A Jeff Overton Fan Is Born
By Kickntrue on 10/4/10
Jeff Overton was the one guy on the USA squad that most likely had viewers saying, "Who?" I'll only speak for myself, but he has a new fan.

Overton finished the Ryder Cup 2-2 including an (almost) crucial win over Ross Fisher in the individual matches. His defining moment though was on Sunday- when playing with Bubba Watson. I'll let the video do the talking. Sure- the celebration seemed a little contrived, especially by Bubba, but I'll take any emotion on the golf course from these pros as a good sign.

Have your sound on- or you're missing out.

I saw this live. I liked Bubba yelling for his tee shot to bite on the driveable par4 better, though.
Jattruia says:
Greed. Going into this, i thought he was a complete douche. But i really like him now, and he was fun to watch.

hahaha. Bubba asking for the tee shot to bite was funny. I sat there like "I wonder what that feels like". ROFL.

He's a douche.
cjgiant says:
I thought he went a little John Edwards with the celebration, but at least he was excited and into the competition, which is nice.
cincystephen says:
cjgiant...John Edwards? Do you mean Howard Dean? Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
twood says:
He's still a douche.
Kurt the Knife says:
I think Bubba was like,
" Dang I better get in the juju or this cat's gonna PW my ass. Like I seen my uncle Lenny get all like that after that bottle o' Everclear 'n cousin Gimpy was all circumspect after Richard Petty won that last race sayin' "I dunno Lenny, I think he done all remove them restrictor plate n all." n uncle Lenny wallop him wit the Oprah magazine Aunty Ginn always left on the davenport 'til he bleedin from the ears.

No Way! I just came here to say that People better start giving this kid some respect. Wow! I'm so glad I'm not alone. He really played well. MVP perhaps?

A new fan indeed.
dottomm says:
ha. I just saw that Bubba part. Hilarious.
mmontisano says:
to me, he seems like that guy you get paired with when you're a single that you hate because he's always bitching/yelling about his bad shots and trying to over emphasize to you how good he really is...he's just off his game that day. i still don't like him.
mmontisano says:
i have gained WAY more respect for Rickie Fowler though. the kids tough...
Mandelbaum! says:
I've not watched much golf this year, but one of the things I did see was Overton displaying the maturity of an 8-year-old during the final round of the Greenbrier Classic. 'Tis a frustrating game we play, but dude...you get payed to play golf. Have some perspective!

I've definitely grown to be a Bubba fan this year...does he ever take himself seriously? Talk about the other end of the spectrum! Perhaps that's why Pavin paired them together.
Envythepea says:
Yeah, he played well but he reminds of an American Ian Poulter. I'm not won over by him either.
RonInThornton says:
Bubba is great, did you see the display of trick shots he put on for fans during one of the rain delays?

Fowler is someone to watch he really stepped up when it was needed
