Modern Family Hits The Links

The best show on television, ABC's "Modern Family," took to the golf course yesterday. Hilarious AND it teaches you not to try and just brush off your kid's life questions.
My son is only 16 months old, so I have some time to work this out- but I have thought about when the right time to bring him golfing is. I think the lesson here- is that when you do, you'd better expect to mark it as a "practice round."

We always saw at work that the only thing is to just let the kids have fun wacking balls. Dont try and teach a 3-year old how to hit it like a PGA pro. Dont dream of your kid becoming the next Tiger Woods. Just get the kid involved and interested in the sport, and let them make the decision within a couple of years. The best thing you can do is take them to the driving range, or even just buy those plastic sets for the backyard.
My oldest has been going with me since he was 14 or 15 months (to the big course, I actually took him in his stroller to the par 3 course alot when he was even younger but that was before he could walk), he still loves it. The only time he was ever a problem was when we were in a hurry and didn't let him putt his ball into the hole. He just needed to finish out and still gets mad if someone picks up his gimme putts, he's 7 now, and I post his scores from the par 3 course on oob.
My 15 yr old daughter has just decided this last summer that golf "Doesn't suck", she's gone out and played with me a few times and out to the range a bunch. It's really a great way to have time to talk with her and stay in the loop about what's going on in her life.
