Sergio Garcia's 5,862 Mile Albatross
By mustang6560 on 10/4/11
The 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London are less than a year away now, but golf is not one of the 26 sports or 28 disciplines in competition. Golf won't make it's triumphant return as an Olympic sport until the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro. So in order to generate some buzz about the 2016 Summer Games, Omega released a new ad starring Sergio Garcia.
And I really like it. Sure, it's cheesy to have Sergio hit a drive on a hole in Switzerland and have it land in the cup on a green in Brasil for a 5,862 mile albatross, but overall the commercial is quite clever. I'm a sucker for good marketing and now I want to go buy an Omega watch so I can count down to the start of the 2016 Summer Games!
I was careful to refer to Sergio's hole in one on a par 4 as an albatross and not a double eagle because a certain someone--I'm not going to name any names (cough ... jpjeffery ... cough, cough)--doesn't like the term. Heck, in reality, the hole Sergio is playing could be a par 5 so he might have recorded a condor.

more like a par 41,270 (5,862 * 1760 yds/mile * 1 par/250 yds +2 for putting)
Nice ad...and a bodacious set of tatas at 0:14
