First glimpse at Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14
By mustang6560 on 1/8/13
I'm not a gamer — nor do I pretend to be one — but I know that there is a legion of video game enthusiasts who are eagerly awaiting the release of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14.

The new edition includes a "Legends" mode so you can compete against the likes of Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and a pre-car-crash Tiger during their specific era using their equipment. I spotted a game trailer on IGN and if I was a gamer, I'd be interested in the new edition.

Meh I feel like I'm buying the same game over and over again every year with a few new courses and game modes I'll never play. Plus is it me or are they making these games easier and easier?

I have been a fan of the franchise since the 06 version. Its kinda fun and great time waster. The 2012 Augusta version was a huge disappointment as it requires the installation of a digital distribution platform called Origin. Interface is poopy compared with prior versions and I didn't like it. I went back to the 08 version that allows download and install of other courses from developer enthusiasts and designers including Augusta National.

You can even create your own (i'm trying to build one of our local tracks). Not for the technoweak but not impossible if you wanna spend some time learning.
Will probably check out TW 14 but if it has the Origin DRM requirement, I'll pass.

Basically TW 2012 is TW online (free) with the Augusta course.

that's kind of a cool twist being able to matchup vs Hogan or Palmer.

@Kurt - I had no idea people were building custom courses for the older PC versions. Took a look and they have nearly every great course you could want to play- Pine Valley, Cypress, Medinah, etc. Think I'll download '08 for $10 and play Sherwood, since I've walked it a few times IRL at the challenge. Now to configure that 'boss' button...

When I read Kurt's comment, the first thing that came to mind was Whoa, what if there were rendered versions of the shitty local courses where *I* play, cuz that would be cool!! Then the second thing I thought was What the hell is wrong with me???

I owned the 2006 version for Nintendo that's when I stopped "gaming" I guess. Not that I ever really did. I think this TW game dates back to 2000? Still going strong. Say what you will about the guy but he is the undisputed king of the golf video game.

@beef
I'm leaving out the shitty ones.
A virtual version is the only way I might ever shoot under 95.
Its a dream I have.
