Shot of the Year: Phil Mickelson Edition
By mustang6560 on 2/4/13
Phil Mickelson cruised to a four-stroke victory yesterday in the Waste Management Phoenix Open. However, there was a moment in time (although brief) in the final round at TPC Scottsdale when it looked like Brandt Snedeker had an opening.
Heading into the par-3 7th, Phil held a four-stroke advantage over Brandt. But, Phil looked to be in danger of giving two strokes back to Brandt after he hit his tee shot long and Brandt stuck his in close. Then, Lefty pulled off the Lefty-iest of Lefty clutch shots — a shot I'd be willing to nominate as an early candidate for Shot of the Year!

Surprising that a guy whose name is literally (I don't literally mean literally btw) synonymous with the flop shot would use putter here. Just goes to show that sometimes a conservative play is the right one. That's right I'm talking bout all you hacks that insist on chipping everything with a lob wedge.
Torleif Sorenson says:
Beef is right. Harvey Penick probably would have approved, too.
That was an awesome shot. I didn't get to see much of the tournament on television, I missed that thanks for posting. Good thing the ball hit the cup though!
