Phil's Backward Lob Wedge at Muirfield

One of the lucky so-and-sos covering the 142nd Open Championship this weekend is Geoff Shackelford. Hardly shirking his duties, he was on the 17th green Tuesday following Phil Mickelson and Scott Piercy during their practice round when Lefty decided to demonstrate a backward lob wedge shot:

I wish there was someplace to learn/practice this shot. I've actually been in a position to use it on occasion, but can't find anywhere that I can try it to see if I can figure out how to do it.

I have great difficulty hitting a reasonably good flop shot from a perfect lie so whay do you think my odds would be with that shot. Nothing, zilch and nada.
