Steve Williams on The Golf Show
By Torleif Sorenson on 3/12/14
Steve Williams was a guest earlier this week on "The Golf Show" on Fox Sports Australia. And as the AP reports, Williams said during his interview that he regrets his comments after Adam Scott won the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in 2011. On that day, Williams told David Feherty, "I've caddied for 33 years — 145 wins now — and that's the best win I've ever had."
Williams apologized to Woods the next week. But it was during the Fox Sports Australia interview this week, that Williams explained what happened:
"Firstly, when you're a caddie that never happens. Of course, I was unbelievably excited. I'd been through a pretty emotional period, and a pretty rough period the preceding 12 or so months with the fallout from Tiger. I never expected someone to put a microphone in your face when you walk off the 18th green as a caddie. That's never, ever happened before, and obviously I was pretty emotional at the time.Williams also said that he and Tiger Woods have still not yet 'buried the hatchet' and sorted out the matter amongst themselves.

joe jones says:
Stevie will be remembered for two things. He is the highest payed caddie ever.$ 1.2 Million one year just for carrying for Tiger which placed him 40th on the money list if he were a player. He is also one of the biggest loudmouths and bullies to ever do that job.The requirements for the job are, 1.Show up. 2. Keep up. 3. Shut up.He is a rich man because he worked for Tiger. He never showed any humility about that, just arrogance.
It takes a big man to admit he was wrong. That said, who gives a crap.
Only two things you want to hear from a copilot,
1. great landing Captain,
2. I'll take the ugly one.
Falcon......and a first-mate crew member as well....at least for #2. ;-)
I'm not sure where I stand on Stevie, on a personal level. I find it interesting that when he was caddying for Tiger, I really liked him. I thought he was very good at his job of taking care of his player on the course. Maybe sometimes a little too good (overly zealous). Being a Tiger fan, it didn't bother me. I would expect that Tiger would be demanding of whoever works for him. When Steve went to help Adam, temporarily at first, I thought he'd be good for Adam. Then when he was let go by Tiger, I felt bad for him regarding how it went down, but I was disappointed to hear some of the things he said. Now that he is working full time for Adam, he doesn't bother me, though I can see how people would not like his personality. I think he is a good caddie who does much more than carry a bag. I'm sure Tiger thought so too.
Does anyone else think that Williams looks like someone out of Star Trek TNG in that sweater?
