Our First GoW- Matt Snyder
Your missing out on some cool charts...
A One Year Look Back a.k.a. Snyper
Golfer of the Week has been a feature we've run every Friday on oobgolf for one year. I thought it'd be fun to take a look back at some of the guys from the beginning- who were GoW's when only 200 people read the site.

Here are some links to a couple of our first profiles as well as the full profile of our first ever Golfer of the Week- Matt Snyder. At the time, Matt had the best handicap on oobgolf. Enjoy!

First up on the tee, from Chambersburg, PA, Matt Snyder. Sure- it is the same Snyper who writes a bi-weekly column for oobgolf, but he does have the number one handicap on the site- so we decided to start there.

How old are you and what's your occupation?
Matt: 24 years old, and I teach junior high mathematics.

When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap?
I was 12 when I started playing, and my handicap is 1.5.

How often do you play?
I was able to play about 35-40 rounds of golf this summer. Now that school started again, my time on the course cuts dramatically. I am the Assistant Coach for the Chambersburg Trojan golf team, so I still get to be involved with the game in my "off-season".

What is your first golf memory?
Walking/riding along while my dad played.

What is your "home" course?
That's a tough one... Probably Greencastle Greens is where I've played the most lately.

Both Greencastle Greens and Majestic Ridge are getting plowed under for housing, two courses you grew up on. How does that make you feel?
It's tough to see. I love the game and I love to see it grow. I see this a step in the opposite direction and it's tough to see. I have a lot of memories on those two courses. I even have a friend that passed away while playing at Majestic. We planted a tree and put a plaque there. That will be tough to say goodbye to.

The under looked downside of the booming real estate market?
I think it's a combination of a lot of issues, but I think the real estate market is the deciding factor. The land is just worth so much and it's instant money. People are buying the courses that aren't from the community, so they don't care about anything except the bottom line.

Ok. A couple quick onesGǪ

What ball do you play?
pro v 1

Titleist 690 blades, Nike Ignite 460, Top Flite Tour 3 wood, Calaway steel head 4 wood, Odyssey White Hot #8 putter

Favorite pro?
Ernie Els

Favorite course you've played?
True Blue in Myrtle Beach

Dream course you've yet to play?
Pebble Beach

Best round ever- and what course?
Oooh...that's tough. Best score period?

66 at Rocky Spring
