Your missing out on some cool charts...
Denny Hardman a.k.a. jrzydenny
Have you ever been so upset with a shot that you hit your next shot 150 yards without looking... FOR EAGLE?! Me neither- but our GoW has. Enjoy!.
How old are you and what's your occupation?
40, I am the Operations Supervisor for New Castle County Government.
When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap?
Started playing at around 15. Current handicap is 7.
How often do you play?
About twice a month (not enough)
Tell me about a great shot you've made.
I was playing in an inter-club invitational about 20 years ago, I hit my drive on the last hole about 3 feet into a lake that ran up to about 10 yards in front of the green. The ball was only slightly be low the water surface and about 120 yards from the green. Since it was a two-man one best ball event and my partner was ok, I decided to attempt the shot. I took off my socks and shoes, rolled up my pants and went into the water - the water where I was standing was just over my ankles. I hit the shot, water went everywhere, including all over me, but the ball landed on the green and stopped about 10 feet from the hole. That was really good, but what made it great was that the scoring table was about 20 yards behind the green and there must of been about 50 people (players and volunteers) watching. That was the only time I have ever had a group of spectators applaud one of my shots. And, it gets better - A couple of years ago, my mom was playing in a inter-club tournament at the same course and when they reached this hole, one of the women in her foursome (who she had never met before) told the group about the shot that I had made. Apparently, she was working the scoring table. She was very surprised when my mom told her that it was her son that she watched that day.
What is your best golf memory?
I don't really have one that stands out - Probably, just being able to play with my parents every year in Myrtle Beach for a week straight.
What is your "home" course?
Don't have one - I play at different courses. I don't play enough to have a "home" course right now.
What ball do you play?
Old. Irons - The original King Cobra oversize that Greg Norman played in his prime. Driver - Callaway C-4. 3-Wood - Wilson 1200 (real woo d club that was my dad's before I started playing. So, it is about 30 years old, but it works). Putter - Odyssey two ball (newest club in the bag)
Favorite course you've played?
Ray Floyd's Arrowhead in Myrtle Beach.
Dream course you've yet to play?
I would love to play Augusta.
Best round ever- and what course?
65 at Town and County Golf Links in New Jersey
What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year?
The amount of spin I put on the ball with my driver. If the ground is soft - I can back my driver up in the fairway. I know why, I just don't play enough to make the swing change to fix it.
Tell me a story.
When I was about 18, I had about 200 yards for my second shot into a par 5 on my home course. I rolled it about 50 yards to the left into a group of trees. I was so disgusted that I pulled out my 9 iron, walked into the group of trees without even looking at the target (I did have a clear swing path), stepped up to the ball and hit it as hard as I could. I still never looked up, walked back to the cart, slammed my club back into my bag and then I heard my playing companion shout, "IT WENT IN!!". What a way to make an eagle!
