John... and the future.
Your missing out on some cool charts...
John Downs a.k.a. T2Green
If there's one thing I've learned from doing Golfer of the Week it's that most people learned to love the game from their families and hope to pass that love on. This week is no exception.

How old are you and what's your occupation?
I'm 32 years old and work as a Corrections Officer in Maine.

When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap?
I started playing golf when I was 12. My father bought a junior set of clubs and got me involved in a golf camp over the summer. They taught me the fundamentals and the rules of the game. My current handicap index is about 18 but its been as low as 12 in the past.

How often do you play?
I'd like to play every week, but its closer to twice a month.

Tell me about a great shot you've made.
I was about 18 and playing in a local scramble at Rochester Country Club with 3 other members, (all single much better than me). I drove the par 4 fifth hole and made the putt for eagle.

What is your best golf memory?
My best golf memory is going down to Myrtle Beach, SC with my Uncle and 6 others for a week of nonstop golf.

What is your "home" course?
Sanford Country Club in Sanford, Maine.

What ball do you play?
Maxfli Black Max

Maxfli A10 Tour Limited

Favorite pro?
Tiger Woods...We are the same age and I grew up following his Junior golf career.

Favorite course you've played?
Gasparilla Inn Golf Course in Boca Grande, Florida.

Dream course you've yet to play?
Pebble Beach

Best round ever- and what course?
79 at Indian Mound Golf Club in Ossipee, New Hampshire.

What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year?
Putting!!!!!!! My lack of play in recent years has cost many strokes on the greens.

Tell me a story.
Golf is just an incredible game. My Grandfather played and forged great friendships. My father and Uncle enjoyed playing golf for most of their lives. The game was passed on to me and I've been lucky enough to meet lots of people including a great friend Rob. We've traveled to Myrtle Beach to play, New York to see the PGA championship, Florida for the Bay Hill with Arnold Palmer. We've played all over the area hundreds of rounds together. I hope my kids will grow to enjoy the game as much as I do.
