Your missing out on some cool charts...
Aaron Hansen a.k.a. hansenaaron
When people talk about "the good old days" I think what they mean is when they were in high school and could play 54 holes a day in the summer. UNREAL!! Then you grow up.
How old are you and what's your occupation?
29, Assistant Manager - FedEx Kinko's
When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap?
I started playing as a freshman in high school. I had never played but some friends talked me into it because "the course had lots of hills, theres always snow still at the beginning of the season, and we have golf carts at the course". That part was fun, but I took a liking to golf. My first competitive round I shot 73... on 9 holes. After a summer of playing 36 holes a day, I came back to average 46 the following season. My handicap in college was around 8, but it is more of the 10-12 now as I don't get out as much as I would like.
How often do you play?
We try to get out at least every other weekend, with the occasional 9 during the week.
Tell me about a great shot you've made.
I have never had a hole-in-one, so the best shots have been some hole-outs for eagle, with the furthest one being from about 75 yards.
What is your best golf memory?
Back during high school (summers), me and and a friend would head out to the course around 7am, play 27 holes, head into town for lunch and back to the course for another 27 holes or so. It was great to have nothing to worry about except the next shot.
What is your "home" course?
Now that I am in Chicago, we play different courses as often as we can, so we don't have a "home course". I have a course back home called Spring Valley Golf Course, in a little town named Livermore, IA. It was the only course for 60 miles in any direction that was a reasonable layout compared to the courses we were playing in college. It was 18 holes, and absolutely gorgeous (if you didn't mind cow pastures around the outside).
What ball do you play?
Titleist Irons, Vokey 52 degree, Vokey Spin Milled 56 and 60 degree. Odyssey Rossie II putter (that I have had since junior year of high school), Nike Sasquatch Sumo Square driver and Titleist 983 17 degree wood.
It will always be Fred Couples.
Favorite course you've played?
Dubsdread (Cog HIll #4). We played it 2 weeks before the BMW Championship last year, so the grandstands were up. Coming into 17 and 18 made it feel like a real tour course (except no one in the grandstands).
Dream course you've yet to play?
Probably a tie.... St Andrews and Augusta National. But you could also throw in TPC at Sawgrass, Pinehurst #2, Pebble Beach, Oakmont and Royal Troon.
Best round ever- and what course?
Spring Valley Golf Course and I shot 66, with a 31 on the back 9 (4 birdies on 15-18).
What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year?
Even though I have never been a great putter, and my short game is pretty good, it has gone down since college with the lack of playing. I would really like to improve my up-and-down from 40 to 80 yards out.
Tell me a story.
Once upon a time....there was this beautiful princess.........golf.......And they lived happily ever after. Well, you can fill in the rest however you want.
