Your missing out on some cool charts...
Terry Johnson a.k.a. Terry Johnson
How old are you and what's your occupation?
I am 51 and I sell Hunting Equipment for a manufacturer.

When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap?
I started when I was 10, I picked up a club and we would sneak onto the local Country Club. I was hitting wood shaft clubs because they were given to me, boy do I wish I had those clubs now, they would be worth some money. I got my first starter set when I was 12. Never took a lesson on till I was over 20, not good advice, I wish I had learned the proper way to play at an earlier age. I have been as low as a 6 handicap and now I am an 11, trying to get back to a 6.
Congrats on that goal!

How often do you play?
Twice a week in the summer, weekends only.

Tell me about a great shot you've made.
Last year I went out and had a four metal made. I was on a par five and the ball was above my feet. It was a typical crowded day at the muni- course and I was 242 yards out to the front of the green, I know this because I have a Sky Caddy. I like to play with proper etiquette and while didn't think I could get there I didn't want to hit into anyone either. As we are waiting the group from behind us comes up to the tee so I decided to go ahead and hit. I hit it pretty good but lost it in the sun, none of the guys I was playing with saw the shot, I knew it was good but the guys on the green never moved so I figured it had to be the perfect layout. As we get closer to the green I cannot find the ball, one of the guys in the foursome hits on to the green and goes to mark his ball. I am 30 yards off the green and he wants to know what ball I am hitting. I tell him and he calls back to me that I am three feet from the pin. Needless to say I was excited and nervous at the same time. After I made the eagle I went up and apologized to the group ahead who were putting when I hit the shot. I was very lucky, they told me they understood, the ball had bounced on the green and they never thought anything of it.

What is your best golf memory?
When I was 20, I was playing with my weekend group, needless to say for money, and I was getting hit pretty hard in the wallet after the first 4 holes. Just got married and I did not need to make a big donation on the golf course. We come to a little 110 yard par 3. I am thinking just get the ball on the green, two putt and regroup. As I hit my shot one of the guys yells it's in the hole. I look up at him and then look at the green and don't see the ball. Another word was never said. As I get to the green no golf ball, I went to the back of the green and cannot find my ball. Alex (one of the players that day) asked me what I was doing, and I replied I cannot find may ball. His quote to me, which I will remember all of my life, was "it's in the cup stupid". I walked to the hole and there it was, the only hole in one that I have ever had and never saw the ball go in the cup.

What is your "home" course?
Gardner Golf Course in Marion, Iowa

What ball do you play?
Callaway HX hot most of the time, I like the Titleist NXT Tour also.

What a mess, let me think. Nike driver, Nike 3 wood, Wishon 4 wood, Nicklaus Claw Hybrids, Irons and Wedges Ping I3+Blades, Putters - I have about 6 I might use depending upon my mood.

Favorite pro?
I am a Greg Norman fan, old diehard, still like Freddie Couples. It's hard to get to know the new guys, but I think we are going to see some great talent in the next 5 years.

Favorite course you've played?
I am muni- guy, they are good when you cannot play better than there par. I have seen courses that I would not prefer to play however, I have not seen one I don't like.

Dream course you've yet to play?
Augusta National, is there anything in the United States as pretty or with as many memories?

Best round ever- and what course?
I shot par several times for 9 holes and one under once. I have had some great rounds for a hacker, but best ever is the 4 birdies I had in a row on the back nine at Gardner, that is something I will never forget.

What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year?
I would like to hit it straighter, I have become a Ben Hogan fan over the last 5 years, reading everything written about him and there really is a reason they make short grass.

Tell me a story.
You have heard my best two; hopefully the best is yet to come.
