Your missing out on some cool charts...
Bob Du Charme a.k.a. bducharm
How old are you and what's your occupation?
I just turned 50 and I am a Customer Solutions Manager for Cisco Systems.
When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap?
I started playing golf after joining the Air Force (I am retired from the USAF) in Minot, ND. My current handicap is +1.2.
How often do you play?
I practice daily and try to play every day. Unfortunately work keeps getting in the way!!! I will say I do something golf related every day!!!
Tell me about a great shot you've made.
Playing Pebble Beach in 2000, a few months after the US Open. I had signed in to play as a single at 5:15 am and teed off at 1:55 pm! It was worth the wait!!! On hole #7, the short par 3, the wind was blowing about 20-25 mph from right to left. I flighted a little wedge down, starting it about 15 yards over the ocean on the right. I had to hold my breath and let God do His work!!! Made birdie from about 8 feet!!!
What is your best golf memory?
Playing in a team competition at Pinehurst in 2004. We played 3 rounds, on courses #5, #8, and #2. Pinehurst is like heaven on earth. The people, the food, the golf - ALL exquisite!!! In the competition, I made 8 putts from more than 15 feet (a couple were 40 footers) on course #8!!! As one of teammates said that day "I will see aliens and spaceships in my living room before I see that putting ever again!!!"
What is your "home" course?
River Place Country Club, Austin TX, where I am the defending club champion.
What ball do you play?
Titleist all the way, 909D2 driver, 16*, 20*, 23* Cobra Pro hybrids, Titleist 735CM 5-PW irons, Vokey Oil Can wedges 52*, 56*, 60*, Scott Cameron Squareback putter.
No doubt - Tiger Woods. His excellence is what I admire. He is all about winning - second is first loser!!! I love the attitude.
Favorite course you've played?
Tie between Pinehurst #8 (you thought I was going to say #2, huh???) and Pebble Beach. Each have their attributes that make them so nice. Pebble is all about the auditory senses - the ocean crashing, the sea lions. Pinehurst is about the quiet, peaceful, beautiful scenery!!!
Dream course you've yet to play?
Would have to be Augusta National or Pine Valley. Anyone??? Buehler??? Little help???
Best round ever- and what course?
64 at River Place CC.
What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year?
I am actually in the process of changing my swing plane right now. I had gotten my plane too flat and I am working with a GREAT teacher, Chris de Keratry to do this. I just want to continue to improve and become even more consistent. If you are not trying to get better, others will pass you by!
Tell me a story.
I had never touched a golf club until one summer day in 1978. I had a friend who played golf and he came one Saturday morning and knocked on my dorm room door. I was pretty hung over from a great night of partying!!! He asked me to caddie for him!!! I didn't even know what a caddy was. I drug myself out of bed and witnessed one of the easiest 66's you ever saw! I immediately drove 15 miles to the town of Minot and bought my first set of clubs from K-Mart - Sam Snead Wilson Blue Ridge clubs!!! Driver, 3 wood, 3,5,7,9 iron, putter and bag all for $50!!! I was hooked!!!

Weird question, but are you generally left-handed or do you just golf lefty? This has been an article of debate lately between me & friends.
What was your score at Pebble ?. I played there in 1996 and waited 5 hours to play as a walk on. I thought that was a long time. I won't tell you my score. I couldn't close my mouth, I was in awe.
Derric, no doubt. I rode around with my mouth open as well. I actually hit the ball wonderfully but putted poorly. I shot 76.
A fellow Austinite! Your home course looks pretty nice. Thanks for sharing your stories.
blake_p - you bet!!! River Place is pretty nice - the picture was actually taken at Twin Creeks.
