Your missing out on some cool charts...
Bryan Kelly a.k.a. bkskimachine
How old are you and what's your occupation?
35 and business improvement manager

When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap?
I started at age 12 and I'm currently a 9.7 hc. OOB shows me as a 7.6. As I continue to drop old scores off my ghin HC I expect to see it align with what's on oob as I continue to focus on weak points in my game like fairways hit.

How often do you play?
I average 18 holes per week.

Tell me about a great shot you've made.
Last week in league I was facing a 145 yard shot to the green after a 290 drive. My lie was in thick rough about 10 yards off the fairway. I had a sixty foot cottonwood tree twenty yards in front of me blocking a shot to the right half of the green. I also had a twelve foot maple tree blocking a low shot to the green under the cottonwood. My only option was to hit a shot that would fly above the maple and below the cottonwood branches with a slight fade and run the ball up to the pin. The window between the two trees was probably fifteen feet tall. I choked up on a seven iron and opened the face a touch with the club towards my back foot. As I'm getting ready to take the shot a friend of mine in league walks up and says, "Looks like a chance to make a very impressive shot." This applied a little pressure but also gave me a bit more incentive to make the shot. I knew what I wanted the ball to do and took the swing. The shot flew as desired, landed on the front of the green and rolled twenty feet to the back stopping within twelve feet of the hole. Success!

What is your best golf memory?
I was fourteen years old and playing a round with my dad, one of his friends and one of my friends at Indian Head Golf Course in central Wisconsin. I had a 160 yard shot to the green. I don't remember what club I used but I hit it right and it hit the green, rolled up and into the hole. My first eagle and I was hooked.

What is your "home" course?
Right now I would consider it Kennedy Golf Course in Denver, CO. That's where I play in the league I and three other guys run.

What ball do you play?
Titleist Pro V1

Titleist 755 irons
Cleveland Hi-Bore XL driver
Scotty Cameron Studio putter
Mizuno T-Zoid 3 wood
Cleveland Hi-Bore 2 iron hybrid
Cleveland 56 and 52 degree wedges

Favorite pro?
Fan of [Steve] Stricker

Favorite course you've played?
I like Bear Dance, just south of Denver, CO.

Dream course you've yet to play?
Would love to play at St. Andrews

Best round ever- and what course?
I shot a +4, 76, at Fox Hollow in 2006. I was 4 over on the front and shot even par on the back.

What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year?
I need to improve my fairways hit %. That's my focus right now.

Tell me a story.
Eight years ago I went to check out a casual, weekday afternoon golf league a friend of mine at work was playing in. The following year the guy that had organized it asked if I'd help come up with some ideas on how to make the league better. We're now in our eighth year and this is the most successful year yet. We have 18 players that are dedicated to playing every week. The league features a weekly stroke and match play format that is handicapped to equal player skill level. We have players with handicaps ranging from 4 to 34. Every year we have new guys that want to join and can usually accomodate one or two. Hopefully the league will continue on for years to come with the same success we have today.

I just open up my 56 when needed. Haven't found the need enough to spend another $100 on a nice wedge. Maybe I should and then go pro. Ha!

Bryan is a good friend and my golf mentor. He is helping me get my handicap under 20. Whats with the grubby pic? I would bet he could be a 3-5 handicap if he only had enough wife "credits" to play more. :)
Whats with the grubby pic?
klangdon says:
i like that, "wife credits". We should add that as a stat you can track with your handicap. As the wife credits increase the handicap goes down.
Kickntrue says:
Wives could actually like it too- because you'd probably be motivated to actually earn wife credits to play more.

I'm pretty lucky - my wife works at Golfsmith!!!

WOW I am amazed by how many people really need kitchen passes to go golfing. Find a wife who works weekend mornings like mine, and have the kids do sleep overs at friends houses. gets you away for at least one extra round a week. haha
