Your missing out on some cool charts...
Kendrick Terry a.k.a. kdterry
How old are you and what's your occupation?
39 – Unfortunately, I am currently unemployed but I am working on executing an idea.
When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap?
I started playing golf when I was about 8 or 9 and my current handicap index (per Oobgolf) is 14.3.
How often do you play?
I would say I average about 1-2 times per week in a year of unemployment. Typically, when I was employed, I averaged twice per month while I lived in Manhattan as golf season is much shorter and golf in general is more challenging.
Tell me about a great shot you've made.
I have many great shots (approach eagles, 320+ yard drives, 6 inches from double eagle, etc) like anyone who has played for a while. It is very difficult for me to elevate one of these great shots to one that I should describe here so I reserve a place in my mental bank for my hole-in-one that is still eluding me.:)
What is your best golf memory?
My best golf memory is actually not of me playing golf. It does, however, take me back to my golfing beginnings. I used to go to the golf course with my dad as a young kid probably 4 to 5 years old. This was always a thrill for me because he would get me a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and a grape soda. After a few holes, I would tire and he would let me climb onto his bag on the pull cart and tote me around with his clubs as I napped. It is hard for me to see how I found this comfortable or how he endured the extra weight and inconvenience but we managed.:) My sisters never got to experience this. Perhaps one day I can do this with my son(s).
What is your "home" course?
I am currently in Jackson, MS and have a membership package for 3 courses - Whisper Lake, Patrick Farms and Lake Caroline. While in NYC, I probably played Long Island National the most.
What ball do you play?
I play the Nike One Black almost exclusively. I will also gladly play the Nike One Platinum or Teitleist ProV1/x.
Callaway Big Bertha Fusion irons, Callaway Big Bertha Ti 454 driver, Callaway S2H2 putter, Callaway Steelhead 3+ fairway wood, Callaway Forged+ Chrome 52 degree Wedge, Callaway Forged+ Vintage 64 degree Wedge,
I tend to follow and root for Tiger Woods but I also follow some of the golfers who played at my alma maters: Georgia Tech - David Duvall, Stuart Cink, Matt Kuchar, Brice Molder, Larry Mize; UNC Chapel Hill – Davis Love. Some of the other players I like are: Boo Weekley, Camilo Villegas, Anthony Kim, Rory McIlroy. On the women’s side, I like Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis, Cristie Kerr, Morgan Pressel, and Lorena Ochoa. Michelle Wie is growing on me.
Favorite course you've played?
Hard to say but probably between Pinehurst #2 or 8, Centennial Golf Club (Carmel, NY), Isleworth Country Club or Mystic Dunes GC, (Celebration, FL).
Dream course you've yet to play?
Hmmm, probably St. Andrews, Royal Troon or Pebble Beach.
Best round ever- and what course?
My best round is a 74 (+2) which was played at Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Raymond, MS.
What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year?
I would like to improve upon my consistency. I have played long enough to where different aspects of my game have been really good at some in time. In fact, any aspect of my game is likely to be very good on any given day. The challenge is to get virtually all of them to be really good at the same time and more consistently.
Tell me a story.
A buddy of mine and I took a golf trip to the Orlando area where we played, I believe, 7 rounds in 4 days. The highlight of the trip was that he (golf writer for Sports Illustrated) had arranged for us to play at Isleworth Country Club (the exclusive community where Tiger Woods & Shaquille O’Neal live). The course was fantastic and the staff, clubhouse, and amenities were truly incredible! You use the same locker room as the resident members and I got to see the personal lockers of Tiger Woods, Mark O’Meara, Charles Howell, JB Holmes and other golfing dignitaries. We played on a Thursday afternoon with the course pretty much to ourselves but did run into Vince Carter playing with a few of his friends. After the round, we enjoyed a late lunch and drinks and all made for a truly wonderful golfing experience. This is also the same trip where we played another personal favorite, Mystic Dunes in Celebration, FL. It is probably of the funkiest courses I have ever played as I remember thinking that the course design had to be based on a replica of a something a kid creatively came up with in Tiger Woods golf.

"couldnt find a women so went with the black guy who loves grape soda nice oob"
uh, that sounds a lot worse than I'm thinking you meant it to.....
no harm meant... no offense seriously! i have a twisted sense of humor but not a biggot of any means. Terry if your not cool with it lets delete the post. I knew i might get a reaction but thats what i was going for, work is slow now gotta entertain myself some way. HAPPY FRIDAY!
Congrats Terry on the GOW - good luck on the job search or the new endeavor. Great story about your dad sounds like an awesome memory there.
Isleworth, wow nice connection there (golf writer for SI!)- Pretty Sweet Deal!
Oops - I think it's actually 'Kendrick' - sorry man!
Congrats on the GOW - I have also played Mystic Dunnes in FL last year on a golf trip. I loved that course and it was kind weird.
Thanks, y'all. Glad I/they could share a little about me. As I am currently in the Jackson, MS area, any of y'all feel free to hit me up to swing some if you are in this neck of the woods.
@ Banker85 - No harm taken my man. Won't be deleting the post. Perhaps I get the spirit of your thoughts...perhaps.:)
@ LCGolfer - Yes, it was actually from an SI connection.

@Banker85-I've known Kdterry long enough to know he is too much of a gentleman to tell you how inappropriate and ignorant your comment really is-regardless of how harmless you think it might have been. Fortunately, for the rest of us who aspire to address all people with respect and dignity, I am less of a "gentleman" and think it more appropriate you reconsider your comments the next time a similar situation arises.
Congrats on GOW. Lots of GOW list pebble as their dream course. I say lets plan a OOB trip to Pebble. Can I borrow some money?
observational humor. Point taken. I can tell he is a stand up guy.
good story terry. now that you got GOW you'll hit the ace lol
