Your missing out on some cool charts...
Jordan Boss a.k.a. dartboss04
dartboss04 has an idea that could make golf shorts and pants a little more, shall we say, refreshing on the course. To be fair, his idea may be better suited for the adult entertainment industry. Enjoy.

How old are you and what's your occupation?
I’m 28 years old, and work as a Business Analyst in the insurance industry. That was number two on my childhood dream job list after astronaut.

When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap?
I started playing when I was about 10 years old, maybe a couple times a year, and then more in high school. My oob handicap is 11.4, and I think my official GHIN is 12.

How often do you play?
I try to get out at least once a week. I joined a work league this year, 9 holes every Thursday, in addition to a men’s club I play in sporadically on Sundays. Add a few rounds with friends and charity scrambles, and I will have no problem filling that quota.

Tell me about a great shot you've made.
That’s a hard one. Sadly, I’ve never had a hole-in-one, and I’m not too long off the tee, so my eagle attempts are few and far between. I’ve holed my share of chips and bunker shots, but nothing spectacular. I do tend to step up during more competitive rounds and outings, so I think the best shot was actually in a scramble I played with my Dad and two of his buddies. We were trying to make a late charge on the back nine at Topstone Golf Course in Windsor, CT. On the somewhat difficult 14th, I hit a good drive, right down the center. I was about 150 out, and hit an 8 iron to 2”. We birdied four of the last five.

What is your best golf memory?
My best golf memory is going to the GHO (now Travelers Championship) with my Dad. It was a yearly tradition when I was younger. It’s amazing how much bonding you can do, just sitting quietly, watching golf, and enjoying the occasional WAG spotting.

What is your "home" course?
I try to get around, not in the woman about town sense, but I like variety. I would probably say that Portland West Golf Club, the executive course in Portland, CT is my home course. That’s where I learned to play and grew up, and have always felt very loyal to them. I continue to play in their men’s club to this day. I probably prefer to play a big course, but I enjoy the company too much to go elsewhere.

What ball do you play?
I currently play a Titleist ProV1x for most of the year, and am experimenting with the different tour quality yellow balls out there (e.g. Bridgestone Tour B330), mainly for the leaf covered courses in the fall. I was tired of losing balls through the green at the end of last year, and feel like the snob-ass stigma of yellow balls is going away.

Clubs?
It seems like I’m always changing, but here’s the bag I’ll put in play this weekend.

Driver: It took me awhile to come to grips with the size of the 460cc drivers. I remember thinking the TI Bubble II was gigantic. However, I just purchased a used 10.5 degree Ping Rapture composite driver last year, and I’m loving it so far. I’ve definitely seen an increase in distance.

Fairway Woods: TaylorMade R9, 15 degree 3 wood, and a Ping G15, 21.5 degree 7 wood. R9 is my go to club off the tee if my driver doesn’t show up.

Hybrid: Ping Rapture, 24 degrees.

Irons:
Mizuno JPX-800, 5-PW. I just picked these up last year. After reading an older Wedge Guy article about learning with blades, I almost regretted the purchase, but they are a great set, and my wife would literally kill me if I bought new irons. I’ve tried to have clubs shipped to work, but somehow she spots the slightly different headcover in my bag.

Wedges: Titleist Vokey Spin Milled Chrome, 50, 56, 60 degrees, old grooves.

Putter: Nike Method 003, original milled. I think Tiger is using this now, or has experimented with it. I’m not sure if that’s necessarily a good thing, but it’s definitely a quality product.

Favorite pro?
I’m partial to Bubba Watson and Rickie Fowler.

Favorite course you've played?
This is a tossup between TPC at River Highlands in Cromwell, CT and Lake of Isles - North Course, in Stonington, CT at Foxwoods. I loved playing the TPC because I had gone to the Travelers Championship so many times over the years. Lake of Isles is about the setting. It’s cut out of the woods in southeastern Connecticut and the Mashantucket Pequots really spared no expense. They put millions of dollars into the wooden bridges alone. It’s definitely as challenging as it is beautiful. There are numerous forced carries, and if you aren’t getting off the tee well, you should bring a couple dozen balls.

Dream course you've yet to play?
Obviously, I’d love to play Augusta National Golf Club. I was just having a discussion as to how much I would pay to play there. That’s probably a good poll question. Pebble would be the one I could actually play.

Best round ever- and what course?
I would say my 82 at the TPC at River Highlands. It was my first time there, and as I’ve said, the course itself means a lot to me. I felt like I really stepped up my game that day. It was about a month away from the tour event, the grandstands were up and the Travelers logo was all over the place. They even had the pyramid of balls at each station of their new practice facility. It’s as close to playing on tour as I’ll ever get. Even though it’s not my lowest differential, it felt like a really complete round. If I didn’t put two in the water on 17, it would have been even better.

What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year?
I need to improve my mid-iron ball striking and GIR. I seem to get off the tee well, and am pretty happy with my short game. Between 150-200 yards, I’m too inconsistent. I’ve been playing around with different iron/hybrid configurations, but I need to just pick one and work on it.

Tell me a story.
In my senior year of high school, I was playing in a match at Goodwin Golf Course in Hartford, CT. The sun was shining. I hit a great opening tee shot, and confidently took stride down the hill to the fairway. Life was good, that is until I tripped, rolled three quarters of the way down the hill, and split the crotch section of my pants open. I tried to get up quickly, as if no one would have noticed that catastrophe. I’m not the type to carry extra pants, so I pretty much had to suck it up, untuck my shirt, cover up, and continue. They normally don’t allow sixsomes on the course, but my boys were enjoying the fresh air with the rest of us. Actually, I felt very loose and shot one of my best 9 hole scores that season. I don’t think crotchless pants will be the next big thing at the PGA merchandise show, but I would give my testimonial.

Thanks!

I love that story... I almost peed in my crotch as I read it.

I play yellow balls too. I didn't know it was a snobby thing, I just started because of the way I hit the ball, and I hate having to look around, now, I can see my ball all the way in the air, and from 100 yards, even in the rough (unless its embedded).

Nike just released its PD Long in YELLOW and ORANGE.
My brother and I used them last night. I broke 100 for the 3rd time.
I use TopFlite Yellows normally... can't afford the Srixxon yet.

I had a bright yellow bag, and I have a super bright yellow titleist hat too, so I think its a color scheme thing lol.

GO YELLOW.

@gpickin - thanks...i wasn't saying using yellow balls was snobby...but when i was playing early on, people seemed to look down on playing yellow balls...in the fall, i feel like it is a necessity now...i can follow the flight and find my ball so much easier...if only there was a yellow pro v1x...

@banker - it was a really great experience...i actually purchased a foursome to the same course at a charity auction last year, and plan on playing next month...a little less than a month from the tour stop...

I love playing tour courses..... However it only happens on the PS3

I agree with the mental mindscrew on playing a yellow ball..... I keep looking for the 2 black stripes going around it and having to hide them because the course thinks I took them from the range...

Congrats on the GOW.... As a fellow GOW circa Jan 2010 I can feel your excitement of now checking OOB multiple times a day to see all the new posts....

Next time your on the course, take a moment on the tee box and just before you tee off, turn to them and ask them...... Are any of you nationally known and locally respected? Yeah.... I am.... Then smoke a drive up the gut of the fairway, turn back to them and say Yeah that's right bitches and start walking..... Works everytime!
