Your missing out on some cool charts...
Brandon Carr a.k.a. DrLongballz
After reading DrLongballz GOW profile, I'm starting to think people should have to pass a driving test before they are allowed to drive a golf cart. But then again, we wouldn't get to hear stories like his. Enjoy.
How old are you and what's your occupation?
I’m 30 and I’m an IT Specialist for a local bank in Baltimore.
When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap?
I started to play in high school but didn’t get serious about my game until I was out of college. According to Oob and the USGA, I’m currently a 13 HCP. In my mind I’m still a 15, but hey, I’m not going to argue!
How often do you play?
I play once a week at least. My mother retired early and works in the pro shop of a private club on the eastern shore. Only 45 minutes to FREE GOLF!
Tell me about a great shot you've made.
Playing a best ball in VA, the par 5 3rd hole was all mine tee to green. Chipped in for Eagle from 25 yards.
What is your best golf memory?
To this day it’s attending the Kemper Open with my uncle. He introduced me to the game when I was still in grade school. Watching John Daly crush it off the tee was a spectacle!
What is your "home" course?
Prospect Bay CC in Grasonville, MD
What ball do you play?
Titleist Pro V1
Drivers: TaylorMade R9
Fairway Woods: TaylorMade R9
Fairway Woods: Nike T40 Tour
Irons: Nike VR Pro Cavity
Wedges: Cleveland CG15 Black Pearl
Wedges: TaylorMade XFT
Putters: Nike BC 002 Mid-Mallet
Depending on the course I’ll switch out the 5W for the 52 degree and vice-versa.
Adam Scott- He’s a class act and has the sweetest swing.
Favorite course you've played?
TPC Las Vegas. Desert courses have so much contrast. They had a warning sign like Bethpage but it was for rattlesnakes, not difficulty.
Dream course you've yet to play?
Augusta or Sawgrass
Best round ever- and what course?
Local muni, Mt. Pleasant Golf Course. Shot 80 there last year with blades. Hopefully these new irons have me breaking that by June
What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year?
More penetrating ball flight. I have a lazy arched trajectory but I want to have my ball piercing the air instead of just flying through it.
Tell me a story.
I have a couple. First one takes me back to age 10. I was “caddying” for my uncle in a State Amateur Championship. I was driving a cart, not walking. It was being played at, of all places, Mt. Pleasant. The course is as undulated as a central MD course can be. So we’re pulling up to his approach on 5 which he over-shot and pulled to the left about 25 yards. To the left of the green is a steep slope. Me, being 10, decided to take the cart down this hill to his ball. Needless to say it was a bad decision. They were yelling at me when I was half way down to turn around and come back. I figured I needed some speed to get back up the hill so I floored it and turned too sharply. BOOM! Flipped the cart on it’s side! Can you say embarrassed! But, I will say that must have got in his opponents head b/c he dropped 3 shots in 3 holes to my uncle.
The second is another cart story. When I first started playing around the age of 17 I guess, my buddy and I went to an exec course just to practice. It was early and there was still dew on the ground. My buddy John thought it would be funny to put his foot on the gas while I was driving. This course isn’t in the best location b/c a string of power towers cut right through it. So he’s got it gunned and I’m making crazy turns through the rough sliding all over when all the sudden I try to pull a turn but the cart just slides on the dew and continues straight! There was nothing I could do to stop it! BOOM! Sound familiar... We run right into the concrete base of one of those power towers and demolish the cart. The roof collapsed over our heads and our bags went on top of it! I sliced my finger on the mounting screw holding the windshield in place and started to bleed A LOT! It was bad! Left 50 bucks in the cart, grabbed our bags and took off running for the parking lot. I wrapped a towel around my hand and drove a stick shift 40 miles home. Needless to say I’ve never golfed with him again but I’ve also taken up walking so there’s zero chance of personal injury!

Congrats on the GOW award. Fortunately it does not include a driving exam!
I'm glad you're walking these days :)
Thanks Guys! Huge honor being this weeks GOW!Preakness is in town this week so NO driving for me! Long live Kegasus!
LOL! Great stories.
I think the majority of golfers have had their issues with carts and crashing. Mine ususally came when i was drunk (big surprise right?) once we crashed into a wodden post in front of a ditch my friend went flying in through the front of the cart and he was knee deep in mud. Another time i drove right into a cement barrier and totally jacked the alignment of the cart, you basically had to have the wheel turned 90* right to go straight. I dont drink hard liqour on the golf course anymore.
