Your missing out on some cool charts...
Chad Vargo a.k.a. cvargo
How old are you and what's your occupation?
I am a youngin’ at 23 and I am a business analyst for Discover Financial Services.

When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap?
I started playing in 2007 when I started college. My handicap is currently around a 15, according to oob.

How often do you play?
I try to play once a week. During the warmer months here in Utah I try to play more - October thru March usually you can’t golf here due to the snow.

Tell me about a great shot you've made.
Probably the best hole I ever had was my last score entered at Stonebridge on the par-5 8th hole. I teed off, had the wind to my back and ended up far right but caught a hill and rolled nicely down into the fairway of another hole. My brother ended up in the fairway and took his shot, I told him that I was going for the green. I knew that if I made contact with my hybrid I could make the green - the line was perfect and I was being tempted by an eagle. Anyways, the contact was perfect the shot was in the air, I hit the green and was left with a 20 foot putt for eagle. As the scorecard shows I missed the eagle but made the birdie. However the whole walk to the green I had a huge smile on my face and the round in my mind was complete.

What is your best golf memory?
Best golf memory is probably the scramble rounds that happen at the annual family reunion at Millsite State Park, (Millsite GC). The course is in the red rocks in southern Utah (if you have been to Utah you understand the beauty). This course is set up through the rock canyon, and its usually the only time I get to play with my Dad and you just can’t replace those memories.

What is your "home" course?
I play Fore Lakes a lot because my wife is learning the game, and they have a solid Par 3 Course and a really good executive 9. But I like to consider my home course Mountain Dell or Stonebridge. If you ever visit Utah you can’t go wrong with golf. I have 19 golf courses within a 15 minute drive, and if you bump that to 30 minutes I have 26 courses. Salt Lake Valley is very golf friendly.

What ball do you play?
Lately I have been playing the Bridgestone e7. I like the feel and feel like I get good response on the greens. But I am also partial to the Top Flite D2 Feel.

Drivers: TaylorMade Burner 460 '07
Fairway Woods: TaylorMade Burner '08
Hybrids: TaylorMade Burner Rescue '07
Irons: TaylorMade r7
Wedges: Bridgestone West Coast Design
Putters: TaylorMade Rossa Monza Spider

Favorite pro?
I am partial to lefties, I root for Phil. But if Phil isn’t going to win I root for Bubba, so I was a happy man watching the Masters

Favorite course you've played?
Probably my favorite course is Mountain Dell; playing golf in Parleys Canyon and being able to have a herd of deer laying in the fairway, or seeing a moose in the pond - it’s just so beautiful. But probably the best kept course I have played is Wasatch in Heber City.

Dream course you've yet to play?
Well there are the obvious ones Pebble, the Old Course, etc. But a course I really want to play is Thanksgiving Pointe. That is the course in Utah you play to have your game really tested.

Best round ever- and what course?
That would have to my 39 I shot playing 9 holes at Mountain Dell late last year. I was just firing on all cylinders, and I started the round with a birdie, still a very proud moment but I got cocky and bogeyed the next 3. But I pulled together!

What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year?
My short game is horrible. I lose so many strokes within 50 yards of the green. I need to shorten my driver down as well, I tend to tee off with my 3-wood. Putting has been superb this year, but I practiced in the house all winter.

Tell me a story.
Well I will tell you two. The first one is my favorite.

While with my college buddy at Mountain Dell, we had a real slow group in front of us, but the weather was nice so we didn’t care. We were just happy to be outside. Anyways I am teeing off on a par-5, and the group in front of us is on their approach shots, I am clearly okay to tee off. However, this particular hole is on a slope so the cart path cuts through fairway in a few spots, well my ball hit all 3 areas where the cart path passes through, and landed right next to the group in front of us, my first ever 380+ yard drive! The word FORE couldn’t make it out of my mouth I was in awe that my ball could hit the cart path 3 times and carry that far, the group in front was pretty pissed but it was nothing a beer couldn’t fix.

Story two is embarrassing and let me just say my brother pushed me, he won’t admit it but he did. My brother is that typical golfer friend we all have, they golf maybe twice a year and can never understand why their golf game is so bad. Well, we are on hole 16, and he teed off two balls, and was really frustrated, my problem was letting him drive the cart. He was rolling up on his first ball that he shanked, and I was doing the friendly thing of leaning out and grabbing his ball for him while he continues rolling forward. Well, as we come up on the ball I claim he was taking out frustration, he claims I fell. But regardless I ended up in the grass, rolling out of the cart. The rest of our group got a great laugh, my brother was hysterical, the three groups around us all broke out in a chorus of laughter, and well me, I went home with a bruise.

Nice GOW! Good to see another 2007 burner rescue man. I love those things. I'm actually going to piece together a back up set via eBay this summer.

Thanks oob, love the site. Sorry everyone for some of my grammatical mistakes, obviously my brain was thinking faster than my fingers can type.

Got to watch out on those golf carts. My buddy cut the wheel on a cart once when I was leaning out looking for a ball. I was ejected from the cart and landed on my feet, but as I hit I rolled my foot and broke my 5th metatarsal bone. Spent most of the summer in a walking boot. I would like to point out that I did finish the round despite my broken foot though.
