adidas adipure motion Golf Shoes Review

Introduction

There are two kinds of golfers — the kind who play well and the kind who dress well. Unfortunately, the majority of us fall into the latter half. If you can't play the part, it's important to at least dress the part, right? If you neither play the part nor dress the part, then you should probably evaluate your commitment to the game.

The key to any outfit — regardless of setting — is footwear. For the most part, I've always worn "sporty" golf shoes. As my age has evolved over the years, so have my tastes. I'm not quite ready for the Hawaiian-short-sleeve-button-down-shirt-look yet, however, my style is slowly moving in the classic (or traditional) direction. adidas Golf designed its new adipure motion golf shoe for golfers who prefer a classic look, but it's equal parts style and substance. The Company sent us a pair of the adipure motion in white to review for the oobgolf Community.

From adidas Golf:
Characterized by exquisite detailing, premium materials and an unsurpassed level of craftsmanship, the adipure line is a modern expression of timeless classics designed to meet the demands of the most discerning class of golfer. The new, elevated adipure motion utilizes revolutionary materials and state-of-the-art outsole construction aimed at freeing the foot and body to move in the way it was inherently meant to, from the ground up to the shoulders.

Look

As I mentioned above, I'm starting to develop an eye for the classics (it's part of the reason I want to play blades) and the adipure motion definitely fits my eye. adidas Golf used an ultra-soft, full grain aniline leather to make them. The aniline leather is a type of leather that is dyed in such a way to preserve the natural surface grain of the hide. In addition to the aesthetic appeal, the aniline leather, which was also used on the lining, provides superior comfort.

I really like the look of the adipure motion. The simplicity of the design gives it a distinguished look. There are not a lot of lines or colors, which can be distracting. I've worn the adipure motion several times now and I've received almost as many compliments as rounds played. The feedback is always the same too — "Sweet shoes, Nate?"
Experience

If you've ever walked 18 holes (as I assume most oobers have), then you understand the importance of wearing a comfortable pair of golf shoes. In an average month, I walk close to 40 miles on the golf course (eight rounds times five miles per round), so comfort is especially important to me. I've logged over 100 miles (20 rounds times five miles per round) in the adipure motion so I can honestly say that they are one of the most comfortable pair of golf shoes I've ever worn.

The key to the adipure motion is the outsole. The seven-spike, ultra-light design features adidas Golf's puremotion technology. In other words, the outsole is light-weight (23% lighter than the previous model) and it's flexible yet durable. The design allows the foot to function as it would without a shoe. The extra flexibility creates better traction with the ground through the swing, which should help you create more power at impact.
Overall

The only thing about the look I don't like is the x-pattern overlay on the heel. adidas Golf said it is designed to provide extra stability in the heel, I'm not sure how much extra stability you gain. Luckily, it's on the back of golf shoe so the only people who really see it are the people I leave in the dust on the golf course.

On the patented oobgolf Rating Key, I'd give the adipure motion an 8.5 or "Awesome". If you're in the market for a classic-looking, comfortable golf shoe, then you need to consider the adidas Golf adipure motion. It might not improve your swing, but it will instantly improve the curb appeal of your golf game, plus they are super comfortable. You can pick up a pair of adipure motion on adidas Golf's website for $219.99. It's available in three colors — black, brown, and white.

Nice review Nthan. I have tried Adidas shoes and they fit strangely on my feet. I am a tried and true FootJoy guy. They seem to fit me better.

I got the original white TW 13 as a gift and I love them. I will be designing my own TW14 NikeID version. The older I've gotten I don't mind the sporty look and I am a huge fan of the Nike free platform.

I'm a Footjoy guy. Always have been. Don't plan on changing. But, I have to admit these are very nice looking. One of the nicest shoes, other than a FJ, that I have ever seen.
