How Many Miles Have You Played?
By Kickntrue on 10/4/07
We added a small feature to your "My Game" page. Based on the total yardages of the courses you've entered into oobgolf you can now see how many miles of golf you've played. Of course- that's measured in a straight line- so for golfers like me it's a lot uglier than that number suggests. You can find the stat on your "My Game" page above your charts.

It ought to be the total miles of all the rounds entered. That would be more accurate (and interesting).

I have 73 rounds and have only played 86 miles. That doesn't seem right.

Occasionally I use Google's pedometer to work out how far I've actually walked.

It doesn't take into account elevation changes, but still it's pretty god as you can plot exactly where you took your shots from.

TaylorFade- That should be correct. I know the "general theory" is that when you walk a golf course you do about 3-4 miles for a round but that estimate includes all walking (to ball, not just tee to pin and between holes, etc). Our number is simply the distance of the holes you've played in a straight line.

We'll double check our math- but my ratio is very similar. I think it's right.

TaylorFade, the average tee in the oobgolf system is 0.98 miles long. So I think your number is correct. Remember that this is not how far you might have walked, but rather how much golf you have played...

TaylorFade says:
How can that be? Tee to green, even a short course is over 5000 yards or ~ 3 miles. 73 rounds x 3 miles is a bare minimum of 220 miles.

You sure you guys aren't using 5280 feet for the conversion instead of 1760 yards?

Taylorfade is correct. You were just checking to see if we were paying attention, Right? Now, If a chicken and a half ,can lay an egg and a half, in a day and a half..How long would it take two chickens to lay a dozen eggs?

Your conversion from yards to miles is not accurate as many have mentioned here.

klangdon says:
tm2391, the distances have to be entered for the tees you play for it to work. I updated your tees for you.
