Stat Entering Controls And Update
By Kickntrue on 3/17/09
I really can't describe how excited I am about the changes happening on oob these days. Check out how score entering is different.

If logged in you should now have a "My Settings" link in your top navigation bar. Click that and be amazed at the control you now have. You can add and delete categories you want to track and see displayed on oobgolf as well as your mobile device if you do live scoring. You'll notice a bevy of new stats to look at including Scrambling Percentage and GIR Percentage for Par 3's, 4's and 5's, broken down. You can choose what quick displays in your "My Game" page for everyone to see.

To simplify the process for some users but maintain full controls for others we've knocked a couple stats off of the default setup that you may be use to see like Putts after GIR and the Number or Pars and Bogies you've scored. To add those- just go to your "My Settings" and get yourself all setup.

Besides giving you more control there is one big reason we've made this change... NEW STATS! ... Coming Soon. Very Soon, so stay tuned.

As always- we trust that you see things better than us sometimes. Feel free to leave your comments with suggestions or questions below. We'll continue to work out all the kinks in the system and continue to build the best golf stat tracking product available anywhere!

Keeping intricate stats is by nature tedious and potentially confusing work. We've tried our best to make the process as simple and self-explanatory as possible but you may still be confused as to what some of the categories and options are. That's why we've created a HELP PAGE

Here are some of the highlights from that Help Page-

"Auto" means that a stat can be produced as a byproduct of tracking other items. In some cases these stats can be displayed for rounds previously played on oobgolf. Even if you choose to "remove" or not track stats defined as "Auto" they are still be kept and can be added at a later time IF you are keeping the stats that correlate. Example: Green In Regulation (GIR) will be kept if you keep putts and hole score even if it is not displayed.

"- Hide -" means that a stat may be tracking but it will not be displayed. A hidden stat will be continued to be kept as long as the tracking needed to determine a statistic are being entered by a users. Example: GIR on Par 5's will be kept if you're keeping putts and hole score (on a course with hole-by-hole data) even if you choose to keep that data hidden. You can choose to display it at any time to see the stat.

"Hole-by-Hole" is used to display stats that matter and happen on every hole played. For instance- you'd want to show

"Total Only" is used to display stats that matter and happen over the entire round but not on every hole. For instance- you'd want to show

"All Scores" means a stat will be displayed for all scores you've entered into oobgolf. (Practice and Scramble Rounds do not count towards these stats.)

"Last 20 Scores" means a stat will be displayed for only the past 20 scores you've entered into oobgolf. (Practice and Scramble Rounds do not count towards these stats. They do not count as scores towards your last 20.)

I'd like to delete all of last seasons scores so I can start fresh in the 2009 season. How do I do that?
3/18/09

klangdon says:
puttnut you would have delete each one seperately. But why would you do that? We are working to make all fo the reports filtered by time frame and your handicap and stats you your my game page are based on the last 20 scores. It only benefits you to have previous scores to learn from and improve on in the system.

Tried inputting a new score today. I add a stat (Distance off tee). It takes forever to enter data in that field because as soon as I enter a single digit I'm moved to the next box. In the old version, I would get moved after entering 3 digits (or I could enter 2 and hit tab). Can you check this bug?

klangdon says:
Zotisk, thanks for letting us know about that. It is now fixed.

Maybe this just an Excel question: Perhaps I'm missing something, but for my Score on 3s, it gives 1.8. For my score on 4s, it gives 2.3, and for my score on 5s, it gives 3. Well that's not my average scores. If it was my rounds would be like 42. Which they're not, but at least my handicape isn't 42. Anyway, could it be that I only have hole-by-hole scores entered for some of my rounds, and it is dividing by the total entire humber of rounds I've entered, including those with just total score? Could it not be set to derive an average just for those rounds where a hole-by-hole score is entered?

klangdon says:
Mookie, you were correct it was previously counting scores not tracked hole-by-hole. This is now fixed.

Were any of the other stats similarly adjusted?

klangdon says:
No, is there any you think need it?

Mookie says:
Nope. This is great. I was just making sure I knew what I was looking at, and deciding not to drop the scores where I didn't have the hole-by-hole

I only play most of my golf on one course. Can I default to that course(how) or do I have to enter course each time
