Meet SCOR4161...
Well, it’s official. We launched the new scorgolf.com website yesterday, and the story of SCOR4161 is out for all of the world’s golfers to see and contemplate. As I mentioned, this product is a far cry above “just wedges”, as we’ve addressed the entire short end of the set, for any golfer.

The logic behind this revolutionary product is indisputable. Short irons that look like your 6-iron just cannot give you the trajectory control you are seeking in scoring range. Wedges that all have the same weighting cannot optimize ball control across the entire range of lofts. And a break in club design, shaft and balance right in the middle of “money range” just doesn’t make sense. So we’ve stepped way outside the box and have challenged decades of “conventional wisdom” about golf clubs. But months of testing with golfers of all skill levels has proven to us that this is a departure from the norm that is sorely needed in our bags. We can’t wait to prove it to you.

I want to thank all of my readers here at TheWedgeGuy.com for your feedback and comments to my articles over the past few years. Your input was a big part of how this idea came about. Some say we’ve taken a risk to try to change golfers’ minds about how their set of clubs should be put together. But it’s often said that without risk there can be no reward. What was the risk taken by Gary Adams when he introduced the original metal wood? Or Eli Callaway when he introduced Big Bertha®? Barney Adams with Tight Lies®? Soft Spikes?

Little companies with big ideas have always been what’s shaped the golf club landscape, and we hope to join that list of innovators who changed the way we play . . . for the better. We’ll let you be the judge, and as a special “thank you” to all my fans and readers, we’re offering a special “friends & family” offer to be the first to purchase your own set of SCOR41612 precision scoring clubs. Only here at TheWedgeGuy are we offering you a chance to save up to $100 on your set. Just visit us at www.scorgolf.com, build your set of 5, 4 or 3 SCOR4161s, and use one of these coupon codes to save $100, $75 or $50 on your purchase.

New GiveAway Program

Over the past four years, we’ve given away a FREE EIDOLON V-SOLE wedge each Tuesday to a reader who sent in a question or topic for me to write about. With SCOR4161 being a full-set solution to scoring, we’re changing that a bit from here forward. I’ll still be selecting a reader question or topic for Tuesday columns, but from now on, we’ll be drawing one winner each month for a full set of 5 SCOR4161s. That’s a $639 value, each and every month. All you have to do is send in your topic for me to consider writing about. Whether yours is selected or not, you’ll be entered in that month’s drawing. And each month starts a fresh new contest, so keep on sending those emails to ask@thewedgeguy.com, or just click on the link below. Please put your name and hometown, too, if you don’t mind, so we can give you ample credit for winning.

Thanks again to all of you for being my sounding board for these past few years. And we hope to put a set of SCOR4161s in your bags soon. Your short range performance will never be the same.
The Wedge Guy is sponsored by SCOR Golf, where Terry Koehler is President/CEO. He encourages you to submit your questions or topics to be considered for his columns on Tuesdays and Fridays. Each submission automatically enters you to win a SCOR4161 wedge to be given away monthly. Click the button below to submit your question or topic today.

Very nice looking line, Terry. I'm going to wait until they're on the USGA conforming list, plus my eidolons are still in good condition.

Huh, did anyone get the update from the SCOR site via email that they were up...

TeT says:
Where will we be able to demo these? Nice site...

Shawn Dinwiddie says:
@TeT site is functional and live...we're still working on the SCORFit web app that will help give you your SCORFit prescription based on the club you play with currently. Thus, we haven't made a formal announcement that we're live. Re: demos - we are in the process of building trade relationships with golf professionals, but like EIDOLON, we have a money-back guarantee demo program...buy any SCOR4161 individual club or set...try it for up to 60 days. If you it's not the best short iron/wedge you've ever played, return it and we'll give 100% of what you paid for it. It's our version of a demo program.

Man I wish the world was a lefthanded one. I always get the bad end of the deal. Expect playing baseball, we are a prized possession there.

Terry,

Clubs look great, I agree with the logic behind it. If I win the random drawing, will you make a special lefthanded set for me?

jwilder78 says:
Wow, a full set would be so sweet. It's the kind of thing I would love to have, but would probably never pull the trigger on. Terry, I know you're not here solely to market, but I must say you've done a good marketing job, everyone is salivating over these.

Congrats for the new product.

The only shame is that shipping cost to Slovenia (Europe) are so high (245$ for set of 5).
7/13/11

simonv says:
That would sum up to 900 EUR-os cicrca for the set (including shipping, customs and taxes).

mjaber says:
@simonv... It might be cheaper for you to come pick them up yourself. :)

D Hall says:
This concept intrigues me. I know I am giving up some strokes with my short game, but wouldn't it be nice to have "the same club" in your hand from 130 yards in.
7/13/11

dooboo says:
@ D Hall,
for me from 135 in, Scor 4161 would be the same clubs...well, except putter. What do you hit from 130? I guess everyone is different in yardage, but this would fit my game perfectly.
7/13/11

D Hall says:
@ dooboo
I have Taylor Made OS irons and my pitching wedge loft is 45 deg. I usually hit that club for shots of 120 to 130 yards and my 9 iron for 130 to 140. So I guess that I would use SCOR4161 for everything 140 and in. Obviously having a PW of 45 deg leaves a huge gap to my sand wedge. A few years ago I bought two Vokey wedges (50 deg and 56) but I found that I still didn't have a 100 yard club. I then tried out a 52 deg Cleveland wedge and found the 100 yard club. I used it so much that I then bought a 56 deg Cleveland wedge to match it. However, I don't like to use the Vokey 50 deg any more even though it is my 110 to 120 club because it looks and feels so much different from my Cleveland 52 and 56. Usually I just try to muscle the 52. These SCOR clubs could keep my whole set consistent in "feel" and I wouldn't have that concern in the back of my mind. Just shoot my yardage with confidence.

@rmumph1 - left handed tooling is in process...we'll have them by the end of the year in time for the 2012 spring season...if not sooner.
