Reviews/Comments Played there July 18 7am tee time, I think the course is very nice, only a few greens were not perfect the rest were, and what I like the most is that for a begginer as I am the fairways are not as tight as I had read, I did not hit any tee shot into the woods. The only thing is that if you are not fit you need a cart on this course, because there is a lot of walking in beetwen 5 holes. played yestarday new greens in horible shape ..pace of play ridiculous..6 hours plus..and course isnt even 6000 yrds,,so its not regelation...wont be back Overall this is a very nice course. i highly recommend taking the cart, just make sure you stay 30 yards away from the green with it or they will get mad. there just seems to be too much walking here unless you really want a slow game and are in great shape. very little water so if your ball has eyes for the water then this is good, but i was rather disappointed. i got the resident pass now and i believe i will be making the trek on the 1,9 again soon. Despite being located in The Bogie-Down, Van Cortlandt Golf Course has a great layout and can be a really challenging course. At the time of this review, the greens crew at VC have 7 temporary greens in play. The word around the pro-shop is the recently re-built greens will be back in play around May 1st. Until then you can easily get a weekend tee time at the discounted rate of $44 (cart included). Do yourself a favor and take a cart, when the Major Deegan plowed thru this golf course several of the holes got moved around. As a result there are 6 or 7 long walks between holes. The signature hole at VC is the 608 Yard Par-5 2nd hole. With a new green in place for this year, I expected it to be as difficult as ever. (Correction from the above review, VC is located in the North Bronx, not the South Bronx.) great course ... slow play sometimes ... paul sliva the pga pro is very nice and smart... good teacher. course is always in good shape.
