Two courses designed by Ellis Maples are part of this semi-private club; the Pines Course (f.k.a. the "East") opened in 1961 with a Carolina sandhills flavor. Five sets of tees stretch the Pines from 5,012 to 7,094 yards. The River 18 (f.k.a. "West") opened in 1974 and, although it is roughly 500 yards shorter from all five sets of tees, it demands more accuracy and shot-making, particularly on the second nine, where water is in play on most holes and the fairways are framed by hundreds of mature oak trees.

The rack rates vary by season and range from $35/weekdays and $40 on weekends in the winter to $70 from March until May.

Two great courses that a very different from each other. Challenging but not difficult to play. Course is in great shape and the greens were almost perfect shape. I have been playing out here for over 2 years and it just keeps getting better. The new management has done great things with the course.

Kind of an old-school type layout...nice course, but not a great deal of variety. Good condition.

These courses are in great shape. Fairways are green and perfect. Tee boxes can't get any better. Greens, awesome. Whispering Pines has their act together. And I've played worse courses this year and paid the same price.

The West Course is in great shape. You will find that this is a very nice course and isn't that tricked up. You will find small greens that are firm and fair and true. If in the area, play this one.

Two different courses: one through the pines and one along and over streams. Greens in good shape as are the fairways and tees. Can play both courses for $40 (50 and 30 replay) in Apr. Accuracy a must on river course.
