Part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Hampton Cove is a 54-hole facility that plays over rolling and waving terrain in Huntsville. with terrain that drastically changes from one side of the property to the other. The Highlands Course, which emulates a Scottish Links, is one of the gems of the Trail. Thousands of Japanese black pines, oaks, dogwoods, and crepe myrtles have been planted to enhance such features as an old mule barn beside the fifth hole.

The River Course was built on river bottom land so all greens are elevated and due to periodic flooding there are no sand traps. I love the course except for the multi-level, undulating greens. The greens putt well but for me 2 putts are an extreme challenge if approach is on wrong level. But the course is in a lovely setting and I enjoy playing it more than I do the easier Highlands course.

Was shocked at the quality or overall care and maintenance. Greens were terrible and rough. For the money a huge disappointment.

Extraordinarily challenging, water on almost every hole, elevated and extremely large greens with pins tucked in the corners, in good condition for November. You will earn your score as most approach shots are one to two clubs more than the measured distance; make sure you have a gps to inform you regarding the huge yardage differences that occur as the result of differing pin position; I measured one green as 60 yards deep.

They have really let this course go. I was very suprised. There were multiple greens with huge dead spots. The fairways were not mowed. I couldn't differentiate the fairway from the rough. It was not worth the $65. I expected more.

Just played the River and Highland courses and both were great. Both are hallenging courses, but in different ways. The Highlands course cuts through a highend subdivision while the River has no homes at all.
