Topsail Greens Golf Club

* The back 9 was recontructed in winter 2007. All the greens were rebuilt and are now bentgrass. All of the tee boxes were rebuilt and soded with bermuda grass, as were all of the green surrounds. The fairways were trenched for the new irrigation system and improved drainage. The fairways have not fully recovered as of yet. The front 9 will go through this same process in the near future.

* The course has finally been rerated since the changes to the back 9.

The greens were in pretty good shape. The cooler weather has helped out the bentgrass here a lot. They've also overseeded fairways, approaches, collars, and tees with winter ryegrass. For the most part, it didn't come in too well in the fairways, but they seeded the heck out of approaches and collars, so that's in good shape. All in all, other than my unending complaints about one of the par 5s on the back 9, for the 20 bucks it cost me to play here, not a bad deal.

The greens are pretty good now that they have improved them, the course has a hard layout, and fits well for a good strategic player. If you are one of those players that use driver on every hole, then you better hit it accurate on this course.
