Las Positas Golf Course

The main 18-hole course here is a Robert Muir Graves design that opened in 1966 and features seven lakes and a creek running through the course. A new 9-hole executive-length course, Links 9, is also available.

The non-resident walking rates on the main course are $36 weekdays and $44 weekends (carts are $14/person). The rates for the executive nine are the same for residents and non-residents: $18 weekdays and $20 weekends (carts are $10/person).

This course is a fun, albeit a bit quirky, public course. The first is difficult only in that the lakes on either side of the fairway are both easily reached from the tee. Another hole plays back toward the airport where the WWII style planes take off headed right at you. Had to wait for them to pass as they were so low they could have easily been hit by a golf ball (really neat to see those old style planes in use and up close!).

Solid traditional tree lined course. First hole is a bit odd, as you can't see the landing area with 2 lakes not in view that come into play. Some really great holes framed by trees and bunkers. Many of the holes have odd fairway sculpting. For the most part, what you see is what you get (which is a good thing in my book)

Las Positas is a good public course. Good price, fun but not super challenging. Great course for casual golf with friends. Great sports bar and "phone ahead" orders at the turn.
