For as much as this course was raved about online, was slightly disappointed. Good course and a good value. Irrigation was spotty, some spots on course over watered while other brown as can be and super hard. Lots of ground under repair around the greens. Sea N Air remains the go to military course in San Diego...

Played 8/9 with 0607 tee time. Arrived early enough to hit balls on the range but was told they couldn't open the range due to the maintenance guy with the keys wasn't there. Mens' Club shotgun tourney starting on the back nine and with the larger putting green was closed, more than 6 on the smaller is crowded so no warm-up there either. Told we couldn't make the turn until after 8, no big deal, allowed for more relaxed play, finished front side right at two hours, finished 18 in just over 4 1/2. The course is suffering from the water restrictions and has a lot of brown spots throughout the fairways and the rough. The greens were in excellent shape and would hold an approach shot very nicely. The sand was also in great shape looking to have been dragged/raked quite frequently. Miramar is a great course to play and/or work on what's been practiced on the range. No frills layout makes for a straight hitters dream, but those that slice or hook be thankful the maintenance crew has taken a lot of the bushes and dying trees out from between many of the holes! The new clubhouse is very impressive with friendly staff and very tasty food (try the breakfast burrito... it's the best I've ever had from a non-mexican food place!)
