Thats funny, I was there the same day you were. First 2 holes were fine, then we rode up to the third tee box and there were 2 groups still waiting to tee off. 3 hours to finish the front 9. Back went pretty smooth. No ranger out, no cart girl after 3 on a weekend in that heat. You were right about the greens. Almost had to land it short and roll it up. If you didn't enjoy the par 3's, then play the back tees. It's bombs away with the driver and wedges in. This has potential to be a nice course but its obvious their not going to put the work into it. The course has a pretty average to above average layout. It has some doglegs, some elevation changes, water, a few bunkers, your average course. I can't say that it was a smart idea to design 6, 360some yard par 4s. No one is "going for it" from 360 off the tee, so it becomes 3iron, 8iron. Rinse. Repeat. The greens. Oh, the greens! What pieces of crap. In an effort to create "fast" greens (which I appreciate), I do not think they water but once a month, and the greens probably have never been sanded, aerated, or cared for in their life. The most toweing, spinning iron shots could not create a divot. I had a "indentation" 3 feet in front of a middle flag position from a 9 iron out. My ball ended up resting against the fringe on the back of the green. I can hold my irons at Heritage GC in Hilliard and Brookside in Worthington, so it is not me or lack of a good ball. The difference is those greens, while equally as fast, have some give. They are meant to have golf played on them. When we arrived for our tee time and they told us we needed to wait a few minutes because all of the carts were out. (This was really a scary thought when we were out on the course and realized not everyone playing was riding--meaning they simply do not have enough). It took us 62 minutes to play the first three holes. It was a sunday, granted, but it turns out they do not have a ranger. Pace of play was a damn joke. After not eating at the turn (we wanted to get to #10 before the 2 groups ahead of us.) Not to anyones surprise, there was no one on 10, 11, 12, 13, and our twosome finally caught up with a group on 14. After this, pace of play was acceptable for a weekend. A ranger would have spotted this clog and instructed them to pick it up, let us play through, or find another sunday activity. You get what you pay for, caveat emptor, yadda yadda. I should have known better. Do not make the same mistake. |
