6500 Nicklaus Dr Gaylord, MI 49735-8098 www.BlackForestGolf.com 231.585.7090 Two courses are at this northern Michigan resort. The Black Forest course was designed by traditionalist architect Tom Doak and opened in 1992 to rave reviews. Even today, Black Forest has been called the best public-access in northern Michigan. Al Watrous's Wilderness Valley course debuted in 1980 and, while "kinder and gentler," the course features gradually-narrowing fairways and elevation changes of a couple of hundred feet. Manager Corey Crowell is quoted as saying, "Good players will have a good time" on this layout. The peak-season (June-August) rates on Black Forest are $55 Mondays through Thursdays, then $65 on Fridays, weekends, and holidays. Twilight and shoulder-season rates are lower. For the Wilderness Valley course, those rates are $40 and $45, respectively. Course Details
