Sandpines Golf Links

Nestled amidst the wind swept sand dunes and towering pines, golf does not get any more breathtaking than Sandpines Golf Links. Sculpted by nature, this wonderful scene provided a delightful canvas for world-renowned golf course architect Rees Jones to create a magnificent array of holes.

Bringing the natural feel of the pine forest and crystal blue lakes into play on the outward nine gives one the feel of golf commonly found on the Monterey Peninsula or the woods of the Carolinas. The inward nine takes you back to golf's more traditional arena - the links land. Using the natural lay of the land, Jones brought the dune element to the forefront of the game from tee to green. Challenging yet generous, this course offers beginners and experienced golfers alike a chance to test their skills and indulge their senses.

Wonderful layout but the course was in pretty bad shape. The fairways were very sparse (in June). They were like most courses up here in very early spring. For what they charge, I expected a little more.

Bandonesque --- it is kind of like Pacific Dunes, without the seaside cliffs and massive greens (tho some of these are pretty big!) and kind of like Bandon Trails without the elevation changes and the severe sloping greens/fairways. More conventional greens/fringes too. It's fun to play two courses in one 18 - wooded parkland and seaside links. Not as springy and firm as Bandon fairways, but similar in play and contouring. It is very well designed and employs the WIND as the chief obstacle to scoring. Great clubhouse. Would LOVE to play it on a hot, dry windy day!!
