The course was designed by Tom Fazio and opened recently in 1995. Hartefeld has since played host to numerous PGA Tour events, including the 2004 Exelon Invitational. Hartefeld is a four-and-a-half star track, renown for it's playing conditions and level of difficulty. Hartefeld is a three-time winner of the "Best Public Course in Pennsylvania" from Golf Digest.
