Wilmington Municipal GC was designed by Donald Ross in 1926 to provide the public with a quality, championship 18 hole golf course at affordable prices. In 1989 the golf course bunkers were restored and renovated to complete the visions Donald J. Ross began in 1926. In 2009, Golfweek magazine ranked this course #50 in their list of best municipal golf courses in the country.
The course hosts both the men's and women's City Championships.

This course is such a great value, but that means lots of other people will be there ... we got stuck behind 2 women both over the age of atleast 60. so the front 9 was very slow. once we reached the back, it sped up. regardless of the pace, i'd definitely still go back.

Grat value to play a classic Donald Ross course. If you stay in the fairways, you will usually have a good lie. Of the faiways...not so much. The greens are usually slow and the course gets a TON of play.

Holy good lord, I want to know who rated this course #50 on the US Municipal courses list for the US. Golf Weekly needs to get their friggin head examined. Sure if the course was in a good condition I would agree. However, this course was probably the second or 3rd worse course I have ever played, and I have played some doozies. If you hit a bunker, better hope you can pull off a good flop shot, they are DEEEEEP. But as I said if they put a little love into the course, it would be a great course to play. Until then my rating stands as a 2. Oh yeah if you go there, the starter hangs out at the first tee and not the starter shack, which the guy at the pro shop would have told me that so I didnt have to wait then be spoken to rudely by the starter because I missed my tee time.

The course is a good deal, the greens aren't the best though. If you are looking for a bargain though, then this is the place to come. It offers great practice and fun, and it is pretty challenging, it is not a short course by any means.
