270 Eagle Point Rd West Deptford, NJ 08086-2262 www.RiverwindsGolfAndTennis.c... 856.848.1033 RiverWinds Golf Club opened for play with nine holes in June 2002; the second nine opened in September 2002. Architect Pete Fazio designed this 7,072-yard layout, which is meant to echo links-style Scottish courses; five holes that play along the Delaware River, including the signature 17th, which features an island green. Large, sculpted mounds and tall grasses frame views of the Philadelphia area. Course Details
Average Hole Difficulty
Course is very well kept and offers some challenging holes. However, for the price, I'd like to warm up my swing on a driving range, chipping green, and practice some putts; maybe even catch a snack on the turn, but not here. Fairways are in great shape and greens are fast. Like the course, but the greens fee is pricey. Course was in good shape heavy rains two days prior to playing water was present in several traps. Greens & fairways were in good condition I would play this course again. First time on this coarse, can't imagine it was ever in bad shape. Was only in one trap but it was nice and fluffy. Fairways were in great shape, most tee boxes in great shape (white tees a bit more used and abused), greens were not great but not bad. First comment made 5/6/11 this update comes later. The old guy ranger is a prick if you play after work expect to be hastled waaay before it is too dark to play. He is an @$$ and it seems no one likes him. Avoid the old guy ranger if possible. Today was the third incident I had with him! Making it 100%. (8/8/11) Another incident with the old man! Course was better than expected. Still some rough spots but overall you can see them fixing it. A little pricey at $69 since still a work in progress but much better than this time last year and improving it is great to see they finally have sand in the bunkers. it looks like they are starting to put some money into the course This course needs a couple more years or so to get right. This might sound crazy, but I expect sand traps to have actual sand in them. What I don't expect is to watch mosquitos hatch from the half water hazard half sand traps that litter this course. The people were friendly which was nice and the scenery was pretty good, you can see Philly and the river on the back 9. But the greens weren't managed well and neither were the sand traps. I hit a couple of balls into sand traps and when I get to them I can't get my ball because I can't see it. It is submerged in water!! What's worse is that mosquitos are hatching at that very moment attempting to bite me. Not happy with this course at all. Might go back in 5 years or so if somebody else writes a review that says they fixed all the problems. Nice course, but the golf cart paths really need to have all the holes in them filled in. Plus most of the sand traps have no sand, but rather mud! Thanks to the new owners the course has rebounded from last year when the old owners let it go. Course never seems crowded so we always zip right through and with the tee time pass its cheap, cant beat it! Your Review
