Keeping with the true Scottish links tradition, world class architect Bob Moore blended the Outer Banks natural windswept environment into a shot maker's paradise. Coastal winds add to the challenge, prompting Golf Digest to call the Links "the longest 6,126 yards you'll ever play," when featured in 1991. Golf Digest went on to say the holes along the Roanoke Sound are "among the most beautiful in the Eastern U.S."

Among the Outer Banks offerings, I like this course a lot. Often visually intimidating, the fairways are actually quite wide in most cases, meaning you should keep it in play. Yardage looks pretty short, but the wind is usually blowing 20 mph in one direction or the other, so it plays longer. Pricey, as with all courses at the beach.

Really loved this course!

We got an off-season twilight (1pm) rate of only $55 on the website and came to realize that is quite the steal. Course was in great shape, greens we're terrific and there wasn't a spot on the course that was in poor shape. Staff was great and we flew thanks to an essentially empty course (3:30 round). Was really challenging despite the short length (probably would have felt how short it was on a day without wind, but I suspect those are few and far between), but never felt the difficulty was from gimmicks or trickery.

Unequivocally recommended!

Would really love to have a course like this in the DC area; courses this good are private or cost $150+

Pro Shop took are money and that was it. We didnt have anyone give us our cart and start us off. Lady at the bar was great. Prices are high but that was expected. Paid $36 for 6 cans of beer. Views were awesome but the course is peppered with houses and roads. Play was to my pace, expect for the ranger that kept following us. Also seems that anyone staying in the houses on the course has open season to play. They would pop out and in on almost every hole. Had alot of wind when I played and that makes this course very difficult for a player of my caliber. Still fun though.

This was one of the best golf courses I have played. The layout was a challenge and the course scenery was awsome with many holes running right along the sound. The pace of play was right on 4:10 with rangers everywhere moving play along. The service was also top notch. The only down side was the cost ($120) during the middle of summer. I guess you get what you pay for.

This course is the BEST on the Outer Banks. Both for conditions and for value. The people there are also very nice. I will play this course again.
