TPC Tampa BayLutz, Florida - 813-949-0090 www.tpctampabay.com Chi Chi Rodriguez and architect Bobby Weed were the right combination to turn a totally flat parcel of wood and wetland into the TPC of Tampa Bay in 1991. Thanks to their imagination and talent it has received rave reviews from those who started competing here a year later in the Champions Tour’s Verizon Classic. The TPC of Tampa Bay is a classic example of Bobby Weed’s approach to designing a course: use what nature has given you and produce a golf experience that never lets you forget where you are. No chance! Some trees were removed to accentuate the openness while he worked the fairways around the abundant wetlands to put water on fifteen holes. With doglegs around these lakes and wetlands, and judicious use of bunkers, trees and tiered greens, visual intimidation replaces contrived hazards. While the professionals acknowledge this gem is a challenge, there is ample room for amateurs to have an entertaining experience as well. Course Details
