A links style course. This golf course was created on a wonderful historic piece of land. It’s a mixture of open meadows and woodland, interspersed with beautiful creeks, and a dash of wetlands tossed in to make each hole exciting and memorable.
Book tee times carefully. They have a strict non-refuldable, non-changeable and non-cancellable policy!

Great layout but the greens were in terrible shape. No doubt due to the recent heat/rain, but for $110 I expect much better. Last year the fairways were burned out, so I hope they can improve as I really like the layout. But I'm not going to go back at that price.

This is just a well-run, and quite beautiful, New England golf course. The impeccable fairways are generous from the tee, but the layout is still challenging. The downhill par-5s (#9 and #16) are fun if you catch a good drive.
The GPS system in the carts is the best I've seen, giving you to-the-pin yardages, as well as distances to/from pretty much anything noteworthy on the hole.
The service is spectacular, there was always someone around checking on us to see if we needed anything. Even through a long rain delay, the hospitality was top-notch.
Try to play it on a discount, because the normal greens fees can be a little steep for most people. Though considering all the amenities at The Ranch, I can see why the rates are what they are. There's a lot to love about this place.

Great course. Play with a member if possible. A number of blind shots and hard to judge distances. Tough greens.

A great course and a great staff. Unlike my experience at The Links at Union Vale in New York, the staff at The Ranch was great.
We were disappointed to find that the practice putting greens and (6) of the greens on the course were what they called pine needled (looks like aerations) when we got there and I told the woman in the Pro Shop so. She immediately said that she would discount my friend’s and my golf rates if we weren’t happy with the way the greens putted. She said the pine needling shouldn’t affect the roll of the ball, because it was different than a true aeration, which was to be done the following week.
Reluctantly we gave it a try. Much to our amazement the balls did in fact roll pretty true on the greens that were pine needled. I could not in good conscious go in the Pro Shop and ask for the discount. We went to the restaurant after our round and the woman from the Pro Shop actually came in the restaurant and came right up to me and asked if I was satisfied with the greens. I told her that we were satisfied and couldn’t ask her for the discount she offered us and thanked her for her concern.
The course is great. Certainly one of my favorites in New England and the staff made it that much more enjoyable. They showed us that they want people to play their course and be satisfied. Unlike The Links at Union Vale where we were treated like they were doing us a favor by letting us play their course.
I highly recommend The Ranch Golf Club.
