Jack Frost National

Jack Frost National Golf Club is unique to Northeastern Pennsylvania. A “large golf course” spanning over 7,200 yards, and more than 200 acres, the course covers magnificent terrain, beautiful landscapes and offers striking vistas and views. Its player friendly design gives players of every skill level an enjoyable golf experience. The course is located on the crest of Jack Frost Mountain that encompasses an elevation of 2000ft. The golf course provides easily identified target areas, a unique element among mountain courses.

The first thing you notice about this course is its length. 7,200 yards from the back tees is always a challenge. This course opened in 2007 and by playing it, you can tell the course is still young. The fairways and greens are very firm. The vegetation around the course isn't fully grown in, and they have a temporary club house for now. The greens weren't fast and weren't slow, but they were very smooth and rolled true. Once this course is given about 5 years, it will be excellent. It just needs time to grow into itself. They've got a range, a putting green, a separate putting green with a bunker, and the tee boxes were in great shape. NYTrumpet's review of "cow pasture" and "ground under repair" were no longer applicable. One or two fairways needed some more work, but that was it.

Jack Frost is growing into a top notch mountain course, I have played here 4 times since 10/11 and it is in great shape. The course is long but fair, with some nice wide fairways, and challenging par 3's, the greens were in perfect shape. I will play here a lot this golf season.

This course is in very good shape, but as other reviews stated, it needs time to grow. The fairways were extremely hard, causing even a straight drive to bounce and roll a good 30 yards (in every direction). Greens were smooth and rolled nice. But be cautious off the tee - although fairways are wide, the rough is not. Every hole is lined with wooded areas. But if you play conservative off the tee and have a good day with your irons, you can definitely score here!

The front nine was ok. The back nine was pasturesque. As in cow pasture. It was awful. The fairways were in very bad condition. More ground under repair than not. Greens were as hard as concrete.

The staff was friendly enough. However, at least 4 people asked me if I wanted to buy balls and tees. Very pushy to sell you stuff. Needless to say the course was empty. Not going back anytime soon.
