This course opened in 1962 and was later renamed for U.S. Air Force General William H. Blanchard, who rose to become Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force. Gen. Blanchard died of a heart attack while on active duty at the Pentagon in 1966.
Since this 18-hole course is located on an active military installation; guests from off-base should check ahead with the course for availability, including whether or not they need to be accompanied by a golfer with a valid DoD-issued ID.

The course at DMAFB, while suffering from the base SVS squadron not providing adequate funding for maintenance, is a great course. The people at the course are as friendly and helpful as you will find anywhere. The course itself offers a good starting place for a beginning golfer, with some easy holes and some challenging. The scenery is great, such as getting a great view of the bone yard while teeing off on hole 6.
