Good golf course but a bit pricey - visited March 2013:
We have been coming to Murcia for the last 5 years, staying in Hacienda Riquelme and usually playing about 3 – 4 different courses. Roda was on our list for this visit.
Of the 3 courses we played, Roda is the nearest course to San Javier and the sea. It is a Par 72 measuring 5,819 metres from the yellow tees. It has been cleverly designed to get the best from a relatively small land area. It was also the busiest of the courses we played. Notable features are greens, many surrounded by water on all sides, which demand great accuracy to avoid ending up in a lake. This is a good test of golf, if a bit pricey (green fees a tad dearer than better courses we played plus there is an extra charge €6 for trolley hire, which was free elsewhere). Also the “Twilight” rate starts an hour later than in other courses (3PM as opposed to 2PM) but, luckily, we got going at 3PM sharp and were able to finish before dark (unlike some of the groups that followed). We looked for a buggy but all were in use – so if you don’t want to walk, you should book one in advance.
There was a bit of a whiff around the practice putting area at the start but this had disappeared by the time we reached the first tee. Course condition, changing rooms, Pro Shop, Bar and Restaurant were all first class. An added bonus is that there are few long walks between holes.
All that being said, we enjoyed the experience overall, but are not sure if we will return.
