The distinctive #1 Hole is a true test of skill demanding a long and accurate tee shot, coupled with a long iron second shot; downhill, over water to an elevated, well-bunkered green. Other highlights include Hole #3, a long par 5 with a hazard down one side and out-of-bounds on the other. The slight dogleg left requires a well-placed drive and second shot that must avoid a massive live oak guarding the right side of the fairway.

Standing on an elevated tee looking down the fairway, the stunning vista shows the Clubhouse at Gainesville Country Club cradled by the wilderness of Paynes Prairie.
