This course is the home of the North Carolina State University men's and women's golf teams. It also serves as the academic home to NCSU's turfgrass and storm-water research departments, as well as to the school's professional golf management program.
Lonnie Poole GC was designed by Arnold Palmer's golf architecture firm, in this case most prominently including two NC State alumni - Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson.
The standard public rates are $59 Mondays through Thursdays, then $75 on Fridays, weekends, and holidays. Discounts are offered for NC State students, staff, faculty, and for twilight and same-day replay.

Overall one of the best courses that I have ever played. Love the layout, very challenging, and I appreciate the merging of native areas with pro-quality fairways and greens. Some areas were under construction, and they are redoing the sand traps, but the improvements will make the course that much better. They really keep up on your pace of play as well. Overall, a great course. A bit pricey, but well worth it!

Overall a very good and challenging course. There are a few holes where the greens have pin placements to where it is impossible to get it close or obtain a fair score.

Greens are horrible right now...lots of bare patches...I big disappointment after paying 75 dollars to play on Friday

This is hands down one of the best layouts in the triangle. The shortgrass is smooth and medium speed but has the potential to get fast. Huge greens and massive sand traps guard almost every hole. The visuals are out of this world (took about 15 pics). It really has a city feel with tournament set up. Lonnie Lon is fair and challenging for all players. By the way if you want to know what tournament greens are like here's your chance. Putts really roll instead of bumbling (my word for how the ball rolls at most public courses). You have got to play this course. Come get some of Raleigh's finest!
WoW! How did they get it in this condition so fast?

Great course and awesome layout. Very nice and friendly staff. Some tough holes with some tough bunkers. Great course for the value.
