This resort includes 45 holes of golf, all designed by Jack Nicklaus. The first 27 holes that opened here were the North and South nines in 1984, followed by the East 9 in 1986.
The 18-hole "New Course" debuted in 1988 over a former meadow and is largely devoid of water and trees. Nicklaus intended this course to have a Scottish appearance, so stone bridges, mounds of gorse, and pot bunkers are prominent. With the exception of MiniVerde Bermuda greens on the South 9, the course u... [more]

The New Course at Grand Cypress is a definite must play for anyone looking for a links course to challenge. The course layout is a testament to the link style, with huge double fairways, massive double greens, and a zillion pot bunkers of all sizes. The course is maintained in superb shape, even with a January tee time. Beware though, the greens here are not for the faint of heart - they are lightning fast but absolutely true. Bring your A-game here and it will be a fun round. Oh yeah, bring your own coffee. Even on a cold Saturday, the cart girl is almost nowhere to be seen and the coffee she brings is a cold as the brisk wind that blows across the course. Good luck!

The course is a true links style setup all the way. The bunkering is masterfully placed. Club selection is at a premium as a missed placed tee shot will find many a bunker. Well worth the price of admission.

Worth going; friendly tee boxes for ladies or high handicappers. Watch out for the bunkers on the New course!

It is great fun to play this course "inspired" by the OLD COURSE at St Andrews. But to call any of the holes "replicas" is dead wrong. If you ever played the real thing,( and I have about 14 times,) then this course is still great fun, but a replica it is not.. It stands as a good knockoff of Scottish golf, but nothing resembles the real thing like going there and doing it right.

Best course I have ever played. Fun!!! I loved playing this course because it is pretty wide open yet you have watch where you are playing and concentration is a must. When I played the course was almost empty with no waiting and no one pushing in back. Most fun I ever had on any course bar none. You owe it to yourself to play this links style course at least once. It will be the standard you judge other courses by.

New Course is a Links Style course that is pretty forgiving. Just pay attention to the fly overs on the GPS so you can see where all the pot bunkers are!
The North/South/East courses have a lot of trouble and the South/East courses (especially) have some very tough greens. The East course features an island green par 3, so if you feel like having a TPC experience, be sure to hit up that set of 9.
