Golf has been played here since 1879, although the existing course dates to 1972, incorporating much of the land upon which the club's first 18-hole routing used in 1927. The club is hosting the 2013 English Men's Open Mid-Amateur Championship, a.k.a. the Logan Trophy. One of the most notable members in the club's history was Sir Edward Elgar, who composed some of England's most important classical music during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
