Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469-5416, United States

Part of the Big Cats group of resort courses, two courses with cat-flavored names are located at this intersection in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. The address above is for Panther's Run GC, which is a Tim Cate design that opened with nine holes in 1994; the second nine followed one year later. The course features fairly large landing areas and contours that generally follow the natural terrain.

In addition, the firm that operates Panther's Run also operated four other courses... [more]

Not what we expected from the website. Standard Carolinas type course with maintenance needs.

Course is a lot damper and plays a lot longer in the winter months. Staff were friendly, mind you I was the only one showing up in 48f weather.

The course design is good, difficult enough from the tips and playable from forward tees. The course was nearly abandoned at 2pm for our tee time, so pace of play was not an issue. The maintenance was a little lacking, particularly in the greens. Lots of turf disease and weed growth that should really be tended to in order to bring this course up to the level it is capable of. Overall a good course and fair priced.

Played there 4-25-13. my personal favorite of all the cat courses. Seemed in the best shape. Love the layout but rangers more interested in moving people along even though nobody in front or behind us.

Thought it was a great track. Greens rolled nice, but it was really firm. Really scenic course... would love to play the other four and compare.

Played Panthers Run in the morning, greens rolled nice. They were "concrete firm" hitting approach shots thought. Tigers Run in the afternoon was more scenic but the greens were bad. Putting on sand with patches of grass in the way. Nice layout, but all you remember is how bad the greens were

The place LOOKS fantastic, But i'm with ironhands when it was said that the maintenance is a little lacking. We were putting on dirt. There was nearly no grass on the greens and it was in a big tournament. I could only assume it was the best they could muster. Also the staff generally seemed kinda gruff.

Used to be my favorite complex in the area. The courses (panthers run and tigers eye are my personal favs) can be terrific, but the last 2 annual trips have found fair/poor conditions and a staff that seemed more interested in moving us along. Better spots to spend your money in the neighborhood (Thistle & Crows Creek).
