Nice course, but way to overpriced during the season. This is my home course though, and it presents some challenges, but also allows you to work on many aspects of your game

Just posted this on Yelp. I thought I would repost here.
I am really excited about the improvements that have been made at Clubwest. I reluctantly played there two weekends ago and before that, I haven't played their in two years. I played again on Monday to make sure it wasn't a onetime fluke and I think this course is officially off my banned list.
From what I understand, it has new ownership and management so I imagine, this is the reason for the improvements.
I used to love the course years ago but as it got more expensive, their customer service got worse and they spent less money taking care of the course. I swore the course off two years ago.
Anyhow, it was clear from the time we parked that things have changed. First of all, there was a person there to greet us to take our bags and put them on the right cart.
It is also clear new ownership is in charge because their prices are now fair and reasonable. I think we paid under $75 for a prime sat tee time. We didn't have any discount, this is just their rate which I think is fair.
I have always liked the layout. Interesting and challenging, and for the most part, it was in pretty good shape or at least as good of shape for a course at that price level. (It wasn't green everywhere like Greyhawk, but it also wasn't $200).
One of the things I also liked was that they give you a free drink after your round. I am not sure if they offer this to try to get you into their bar after their round in hopes you will spend more or if it is just a "Thank You" type touch. Either way, I play with the same group of guys all the time and because we usually always have to get back to our families, we hardly ever grab a drink after our round. B/C of the free drink, both times we played there, we stayed after our round.
I think this drink was tied to a charity par three challenge we got in both times, but this free drink thing is really smart. There is something that really reasonates with me that after my group has spent somewhere between $300-$400 with them, that they would offer us a cold beer to drink. Since it is only draft beer, I imagine it costs them a buck or two, but it really makes you feel like they are happy you came to their course today. If it was in hopes that it would get us in their bar and keep us there, one time it did but the other time we were in a rush. Either way, whatever they lose giving away that drink is worth it as it makes you feel that your business is appreciated.
I will be going back and I encourage people who gave up on this course to give it another shot.
