It is challenging yet friendly, because you can easily find trouble with a wayward shot, but you can oftentimes escape a bad lie pretty easily. Most fairways are wide and welcoming, while most greens are large and receptive. Set in verdant, rolling parkland terrain, the Eagle Course features water on thirteen holes, so it's not just a walk in the park. For optimum scoring opportunities, it requires good course management and, as Mr. Hogan has said, being able to "hit shots with character."
The Patriot [North] Course, designed by William Mitchell, was originally created as a more novice- or senior-friendly course. After all, William Mitchell actually coined the term "executive course" to describe his many (and all) short courses. However, The Patriot [North] is no executive course, but don't let the yardage fool you. While measuring a mere 6200 yards, it still requires the complete test of shot-selection and shot-making skill. With moderately rolling terrain punctuated by an occasional canopy of trees, the North Course is routed through a sylvan setting that enhances the tranquill assets of this Florida parkland. This natural flow of land, water, trees and sand provides all the artistic and playing characteristics of a wonderful golfing experience.
