Charles Blair MacDonald was not only the original architect of this course, but also the founder. The first location of this club was in Downers Grove, but this location opened in 1895. Members of another legendary family in golf are associated with Chicago GC; James Foulis and one of his brothers, David Foulis, were the first two professionals here, while another brother, John Foulis, served as the club's bookkeeper and ball-maker. Seth Raynor redesigned this course in 1923, which is a links-style course that does not happen to run over actual links-land.
This is an extremely exclusive club, with a maximum of 120 members. Despite the Wheaton address, this historic and venerable private club is located in nearby Milton Township.
