Highlands of Elgin

Golfweek magazine has ranked this course highly in the categories of best new courses (2010) and best public-access courses (2011).

The standard non-resident walking rates are $39 weekdays and $46 weekends (carts are $19/person). For residents of the city of Elgin, the walking rates are $34 weekdays and $41 weekends. Various specials and season passes are also available.

What a gem of a course, too bad I just finally played it after all these years. Highly impressed and will be back soon. 55 bucks is exactly what this course should charge.

The greens are slick. Fees are a bit high. I would play again, if the rates drop.

Really cool utilization of old quarry. Great practice facility. Very cheap for a course of this caliber. Reminds me a little of Chambers Bay in Tacoma, WA.

I enjoy this course everytime I play it. I am greatly anticipating the opening of the rest of the Lynx course in 2010! Currently it is well maintained with 9 holes of normal tree-lined fairways and 9 holes of Lynx rolling hills. GOOD TIMES and well designed. Only critisism would be that the rates are a bit steep for a municipal course, but go to golfnow.com for specials.
