Playing a relatively short, sporty course like Village Green can be a wonderful experience. For the avid golfer, the expectation to score presents itself at every turn. For the recreational golfer, this Ray Didier-designed track dating back to the early 1960s is pure fun... challenging without being intimidating. Village Green rewards golfers of all ability levels with opportunities to shine and finesse specific aspects of their game.

I like this little course. It's not the best course you'll ever play and low handicappers probably won't find much of interest here, but I like it. It's short, barely 6000 yards, though I suspect if they wanted to put in a third set of tees they could get close to 6400 yards without too much trouble. The thing about this course is that it requires accuracy. The fairways are narrow, the greens are generally small and there are enough trees to cause trouble if you stray too far off the fairways. If you spray your ball, you will have problems here. It's not the most immaculately maintained course, either, but it's more than acceptable, in my opinion for the average golfer. There can be a lot of novice golfers here, particularly on weekends so it can be slow. But if you pick the right time you can walk 18 holes in 3 and a half hours or so. There are two holes that stand out for me on this course. First, #6, a 377 yard par 4, 90 degree downhill, dogleg left that forces a second shot carry over a pond right in front of the green. Big hitters will be tempted to try and cut the corner and reach the green in one, but you're better off hitting downhill to near the 150 marker and taking the easy 2nd shot into the green. My other favorite hole is #16, a 504 yard uphill, par 5. The uphill tee shot makes this hole seem much longer than the yardage on the card. Your second (or third!) shot is required to carry a pond in order to get to the green. If you miss, miss right or you will find the bunker guarding the left side of the green. You absolutely must have a long tee and straight tee shot in order to have any chance of reaching home in 2. All-in-all it's a challenging little course and well worth the current (Sept. 2015) $20 for 18 holes walking after 1pm during the week.

A nice muni. People at the course said this course was in poor shape a few years ago. They now have their act together, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The course was in good shape. The only negative was lack of yardage poles or markers.
